It's my understanding that PADI only recognizes PADI specialties toward the 5 specialty requirement, and I don't think the distinctive specialties count even then.

Hi Richard,

I got my PADI MSD in 2004 with 2 of my 5 PADI specialties being Distinctive Specialties.

This is starting to look more and more like something that was done over 10 years ago. One of the agencies filed a lawsuit over it. I sincerely hope that does not happen here.

Any idea how Naui or SDI handle that issue?

NAUI doesn't use specialties for Master Diver. They have an actual class.

The difference may be that it is different people posting and not one person's compilation of information.

SEI also has a dedicated Master Diver class. My first Master Diver student started two weeks ago and we will be working through the summer on it.

Good to know!

Thanks. I knew that but tangled it up in my mind. Still leaves the question of how SDI handles it.

Richard.
