Guys,

A few weeks ago I bought my first camera. I picked up a s90 and paired it with an Ikelite housing. Late last week I then decided to add a strobe. I did my research and settled on the YS-01 Grip stay S Package. I placed the order and it arrived today. However upon recipt i realized that apparently the Sea & Sea tray and Ikelite Housing are not compatible(Rookie Mistake) and am now looking for advise. Are there any easy ways to make the two work togther? If not, what arm can I pick up that can pair the two. Keep in mind I am on a bit of a budget. The only arm i've seen that fits the mold is the ultralight but its a bit pricey.Any help would be appreciated.

I am using the Canon housing with my S90, my YS 01 is connected with the fiber optic cable and a strobe mask, check out this link
YS-01 | Strobes | Strobes | Line up | SEA & SEA
It says *The Fiber-Optic Cable and the Strobe Mask Set are required when using the SEA&SEA strobe with a waterproof case made by another company.

I made my own strobe mask with velcro and a rubber bushing for the attachment of the fiber optic connector. It works great.
Do a search on scubaboard for strobe mask

I think OP is referring to how the ike compact housings (IIRC) have two screw points to attach the housing to a tray whereas the Sea&Sea tray uses a tripod screw. To top it off, I think the Ike holes are imperial thread size vs metric on the Sea&Sea.

OP: the problem is not so much the arm, but the tray that's not mounting to the housing. That said you will probably outgrow the arm soon anyway (I have a similar one that came with my YS-60 and changed it for a ball arm system after only a handful of dives and haven't looked back).

If I'm right I see two options.
1. Build an adapter plate. You'll need access to some tools and hardware but you should easily be able to build an adapter plate out of aluminum or something like that that will allow you to combine your existing systems. You should be able to find screws in a good hardware store. Don't expect it to be permanent since you'll soon realize that you can't move the arm as much as you'd like and will want a new arm, but it should get you going at a minimal cost.
2. Talk to Jack, the owner of Optical Ocean, or the guys at Reef Photo in Florida. Both will be able to help in finding solutions either mixing and matching what you have now or getting a new tray & arm setup. It's hard to make suggestions without knowing your budget.

I had this problem just recently when I got a new camera and an Ikelite housing.

The Ikelite housing requires 2x #12-24 machine screws/bolts spaced 3" apart.

Luckily, my tray is a bit on the beefy side and I was able to drill out a second hole 3" from the first and have both big enough to pass the machine screw through and into the housing. In my case, the screws were 3/4" long. YMMV
