If you can get the smallest (SM) harness and plate from somewhere for the Outlaw, it would be perfect for a small lady with the 25lb wing. the smaller wing is only 12lb and way too small in my view. These are getting extremely difficult to find though. Aqualung replaced it with Rogue, which is not that minimal anymore.

In your use-case, it may be worth considering the cheap wings from Aliexpress coupled with any backplate instead of creating a Frankenstein.

Thats exactly my current set-up: OMS IQ Lite + Outlaw 25. It's great, but both are very soft. My buddy gets my spare Outlaw and she prefers to have a bit more rigidity.

No way that would be lighter though.

Agree, it won't be lighter. Outlaw was what... 2.4kg without the weight pockets?

My travel BPW is 2.6kg, just cant make it any lighter unless someone makes a carbon dog-bone backplate to shave another 100-150grams off the weight: 20lb tapered wing, travel XS-Scuba Alu backplate, Mares XR light harness (alu rings and gliders), plastic belt buckle and 2 small weight pockets on the cambands. The heaviest bit of the whole setup was the K-inflator and the corrugated hose, and they are already replaced with lighter versions (the X-Deep K-Inflator is lighter), I have a box of hoses and inflators and picked the lightest ones.

But hey, your approach is cool. I never suspected you could use a proprietary wing with backplate and still be comfortable with it. I am a bit puzzled about the tank instability though. If you attach it properly to the AL/Apeks griplock band and tighten the neck strap. It shouldn't move at all, at least when I tried Outlaw. I was extremely pleased how stable the whole setup is even with a steel tank, allowing me to go sideways without any movement of the rig when trying to take a photo from underneath. This is not the case with standard BP/W. They always move slightly in the chest area. I may ditch the crotch strap and use it without it, however the shoulder area is never snug and it is noticeable with a steel tank. Not an issue, but that's why I am chasing a proper chest strap to stabilize it better.

Griplock tank bands are very good, but they are a annoying to adjust when changing tank diameters, and especially difficult to adjust under water. If using only AL80, it's a dream, however here everyone is using different steel tanks.

There are some good wings on alexi I just set up a new warm water rig with a 20 lb lift wing and a stainless backplate

I have switched the SS d-rings to nylon and the SS buckle to a XS clear path and have it as light as I can get it with the stability and useable weight that comes with a solid plate.

It also folds up very small

And easily fits into my backpack.

The outlaw was a great idea but not well received, this is a compromise.

Outlaw wing + OMS IQ Lite harness is about 2kg.

Outlaw and Peanut 11 are both around 700gr, Tecline H Mini is about 150gr lighter than the lightest XS Scuba plate.

Don't get me wrong, it *feels* pretty stable even with only 1 camband, more so with 2. But the whole kit can definitely tilt ever so slightly with 1 camband. It doesn't feel like much, just looks goofy/untidy. I've experienced it myself and I've seen it on instructors. This kit can definitely go sideways, upside down, whatever direction easily.

This is not the case with standard BP/W. They always move slightly in the chest area. I may ditch the crotch strap and use it without it,
I've ditched the crotch strap on my kit but keep it on my kid's. I figure I have hips and the waist strap hugs my body, the rig wouldn't move.

however the shoulder area is never snug
This is why I insist on a sternum strap. Not always readily available on more minimal harnesses.

What about the Oxycheq dog bone plate or, as mentioned before (but not as "rigid") the all fabric plate? I believe the Oxycheq Deluxe Adjustable harness has the features you want too.

Yah similar height here. How did your buddy move the slots? Higher or lower? Is it because the tank hangs too low vs her torso? The tecline H mini is supposed to be shorter than the standard version.
Tank was too low; cam band was around the upper radius of the tank.
She had already purchased the BP. Since I was the one with the Bridgeport, I simply milled 2 new slots to move the band lower.
