So I have 30 seconds left of safety stop during a 50 min 50ft max depth warm water rec dive and suddenly I start getting vibration warnings, depth jumps around 700, 0, 400ft, Err, etc. CNS warnings come and go. Missed Deco warnings. The face is lighting up like a Christmas tree. Temperature reading 300f.

Obviously the dive ended uneventful after this but I’m not sure what just happened. An hour later I was able to end the dive and reboot it and it seems to be working normally now surprisingly.

I won’t be diving it again until it gets serviced. Just wanted to share this experience and wonder if it’s something common or happened to anyone else.

-20 F ... that is one cold dive!!

My guess would be a circuit board failure, but that is just a guess. Get it off to Dive-Tronix ASAP.

Hi @Alurpal

I have had a Teric for a little over 6 years. I have had several more mundane problems (screen failure, antenna failures, bad batteries) than the dramatic problem you encountered. I have had several very good phone conversations with Richard Morton at Dive-Tronix.

I might try calling Dive-Tronix to discuss the problem before sending your Teric in for repair or replacement, you didn't say if if was still under warranty. The contact information is on both the Shearwater and Dive-Tronix websites. I have received absolutely fantastic service from Richard and Michele Morton at Dive-Tronix

Same here. Here is the website if you don't have it: DiveTronix

I had the same thing happen once. Mine was a depth pressure sensor problem. My Teric was a month outside of the warranty but Shearwater via DiveTronix took care of it. Once depth was sensed wrong (it was like a 1000ft) - there were a bunch of warnings - o2 too high, missed deco stops and several others. I finished my dive on a backup computer.

Interesting. I was JUST NOW going to start a thread asking about the Teric.
E.g., "After the initial battery problems and some display issues, what do recent purchasers think of this beautiful toy?"
We know Shearwater is great! Technology, check. Service, check. Responsiveness, check.
But I never bought a Teric because of a rechargeable battery. Kills me that I need a new phone every three years. So I've stuck with Perdix, and Perdix 2 for CCR. Love it!

So would any heavy users who bought, say, 1-2 years ago care to chime in? @scubadada doesn't count because his is too old. Unless along the way they gave him a whole new unit?

How are new Teric's performing?

Ha @rsingler

Since I purchased my Teric in May 2019, I have had 8 Terics, 7 replacements and 3 repairs.

I received my new Teric , #8, in Dec 2023 after a replacement for an AI antenna failure. The battery failed and it was repaired in Feb 2025. My repaired Teric #8 is doing well after 6 months with good battery performance.

As I have said many times, great service from Dive-Tronix.

Great repair service, but who wants to have to go through 8 dive computers and 3 repairs, even if they are getting "great service"? This many replacements and issues are just WAY too much, MUCH worse than the old Sunnto computers.

I guess that I fall into that category -- and in the two years that I have had a Teric, I did have that ubiquitous battery issue replaced by Dive-Tronix, in April, while under warranty; but have not experienced any depth sensor, antenna; or decompression violation alerts, that some others have since described.

The new battery is currently holding its charge, at 80%, after a week of heavy use.

For that matter, there hasn't been any issue whatsoever with the OC version of the NERD II, of the very same age, with its rechargeable battery . . .
