Hi everyone!

I'm new to the forum (and only about 70 dives in), and I’m trying to put together a backplate and wing system on a tight budget. I’ve found a few components from different brands, and I want to confirm their compatibility before ordering everything. Here’s what I’m looking at:

From what I understand, the Tecline Donut 17 is designed to fit standard backplates with 11''/28cm spacing between the mounting holes, which matches the XDEEP BP.

Is there anything else I should be worried about compatibility-wise? Like bolt hole alignment for the wing and tank band slots or the width of the wing matching the backplate? Also it seems that STA is not strictly necessary is this setup.

I really can’t afford to make a mistake with sizing or incompatibility, so I’d appreciate any advice before purchasing. Thanks so much in advance!

Answering with a slight delay.
There is a high chance that you might not like how the plate is positioned against the wing mixing the plate and wing. Otherwise you may be able to make it without a tank adapter.
I found XDeep plates to be somewhat "proprietary" (some of them don't have tank strap cutouts) but not to the level of more famous brands, where mixing the components is not a good idea. The Tecline single tank wings are more universal with the big and well positioned cutouts for the tank bands.
You'll be fine with the XDeep harness, i find it quite stiff though.

If Stainless steel plate is not a must, you can try the carbon backplates from Aliexpress. They are pretty good and universal.

One of the perfect standard-component combinations for me is the 13N Tecline wing, the dog-bone travel backplate from Tecline (or if you can source it in Portugal, the XS Scuba one), and Mares XR light harness.

You are after a bigger wing and heavier backplate, that's a different story. I typically try to have my gear as light and minimal as possible.
