I bought a couple of what I'd hope to be identical MK11 Evos from abroad. Turns out I was shipped one MK11 and one MK11 Evo. Anyone know what the difference between the two should be? To my surprise, the MK11 is 497 grams while the MK11 Evo is 530 grams.

The Mark 11 "brass" is not any different alloy than is the Mark 11E. The Mark 11 is (perhaps) slightly less weight and from casual observation more compact. The Mark 11E hose routing has been improved and I agree the hoses do route better. However, I have gotten accustomed to the hose routing of the Mark 11 and it just works, odd or not. The Mark 11E has improved coldwater tolerence. For myself, I will not be upgrading unless Scubapro once again offers a titanium version.

Could you expand on this? I know that the MK25 Evo has some sort of a blue spring which helps with cold water (in contrast to the MK25). I also know that you could potentially upgrade your MK25 to use the same spring.

Is this the same sort of stuff going on here or do the fins on the MK11 Evo do something better?

This is what Scubapro says, when I get my hands on one to take apart or decide to splurge and get one I will not have first hand knowledge. For my purposes, the differences are there but insufficient to spark an interest in acquiring one. If I were purchasing new, unless I got a nice price discount, I would want the Evo of course, I suppose, maybe.

What I want is a titanium Mark 11ET with a titanium C370T. Then I will bite.

The spring is steel IIRC, and the blue color is coating that is intended to improve thermal insulation (TIS) and hence cold water performance

The last version of mk25 (not evo) had the blue spring as well

The mk11 (2nd version that you have) and the mk17evo (same generation as the non evo 11) have blue springs as well

The mk11e improvement in cold water resistance comes from increasing the surface are (ribs) for heat exchange; and having 2 spring also allows “crushing” the ice better to avoid freezing freeflows

Yeah fair enough. I paid the same price for both. Guess they shipped me new old stock or something. Gonna see how they both work. Need to adjust the IP on both, and hopefully that mechanics is the same.

I would be very happy with some old MK11 Titanium 😂.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how much the old MK11T DIN weighs? I am guessing in the 350 gram range?

Thanks so much. Guess the "old" reg I got isn't too bad after all. At least for my needs anyways.

You and me buddy, you and me

Guess they shipped me new old stock or something.
But they’re LEGALLY different regs — if you were advertised 2 mk11Evos I’d persuit a refund or something ; if they just said mk11 then it’s a winning deal for you

This should give you the weights: Sold! - 2 x Scubapro Mk11T titanium 1st stages
