Did a completely normal 3 tanker with JDC today, nothing unusual. Republic VII, Capt. Phil, Tariq guide, Ryan mate. Only 5 divers. Beautiful sunny day until we got back in to another big thunderstorm.

Seas were almost flat. The big difference was the water temp, 82-84 degrees, mostly the latter. There was a mild to moderate north current and the visibility had improved a little to 30-40 feet.

Our first dive was at Capt. Kirle's, second at Tunnels, and third at Loggerhead. We saw lots of good stuff today, goliath grouper, reef sharks, loggerheads, green morays, and all the usual reef denizens.

There was a woman with paraplegia on the boat yesterday and today. The JDC crew did a wonderful job supporting her and obviously had undergone training and had equipment available, like the lifting harness. The diver was fantastic, completely self sufficient underwater and had a great buddy watching over her. A pleasure to see :)

I went out on the 1230 boat, same day. I was too cold to pay attention to damn near anything except how cold I was. I want to go back when lobster season opens, but geeeze....
Hi @NelleG

Are you talking about yesterday, July 13, or one of the earlier days I have reported on. What dive sites did you do? It would surprise me if you were that cold yesterday.

Today is my last day of diving for this visit. I was supposed to do a morning 2 tank with JDC, but they cancelled late yesterday afternoon for want of divers. So, I scheduled a 2 tanker with my old friends at Starfish out of Boynton Beach.

Went out at 10:00 this morning with Capt. Motti and mate Josh. It was mostly sunny when we left, just before a thunderstorm when we returned at about 2:00. The seas were nearly flat. It was a surprise that the current was running south, quite brisk on the first dive, moderate on the second. The first dive also had an annoying east pull, strong at times, played havoc for me and the flag. Water temp was 83-84 degrees and visibility was good, 40, maybe 45 feet at times.

The first dive was most of the north half of the Boynton Reef, covered a lot of ground. The second dive was much of southern half of the reef. A few nurse sharks, a loggerhead, green morays and many, many of all the usual reef fish. Easily the nicest reef this week.

So, this was an interesting and fun visit with 13 dives in 5 days with a wide variety of conditions.

The first dive today was my 2,500th since I started diving again in 1997. It only took me 28 years to get there. I hope I have many good years left in me. Best of diving to everyone, see you next visit.

As always, thanks for sharing your trip reports! Very helpful to all of us who regularly dive the area.

I'm diving this coming weekend and I sure hope the water stays in the 80s! I'll bring my 5mm and my heavier backplate just in case.

@ scubadada

Thanks for towing the float for my girlfriend and I today. We had a great time following you around. And thanks for pointing out that green moray, we’ve been looking for one for over a week 👍

Congrats on that impressive milestone, Craig - I enjoyed the 2 dives with you out of Boynton back in May 2021!

Congrats on your 'half way point' to 5000 !!
Many thanks for all your dive reports that help us locals. I think I have one last lobster scouting dive the end of next week.

Have a great weekend, it sure was a wild visit for me. I often throw the next heavier wetsuit than I think I'll be using in the trunk of the car and ask about water temps when I arrive. Unfortunately, I did not do that last Thursday. I always take my 5/3 hooded vest to give me some flexibility.

I look forward to reading about your weekend.
