Ok... so I guess next up will be Apple Water Pods so you can listen to your music while diving and watch movies on the watch on deco stops.

Will Bluetooth work underwater if only a couple feet away.....?

(Sorry if that's a dumb question but I'm just an old Boomer..)

They're not targeting you Doc. You're 45 years past their target market. Nor me. But they will sell a lot of these to Millennials, Gen Xers, Yers, Alphas etc. Perhaps it may bring us some more divers. Who knows?
You know, I actually think the opposite. I don't own a smart watch but I have given two to my aging parentals. The fall detection is really first rate, no false positives like I have heard others complaining about. And the best device is one you have on you; people don't like wearing the "life alert" bracelet or necklace, but an Apple Watch is a fashion statement. The price also compares very favorably when you compare it over the lifespan of a watch, factoring in the monitoring service costs.

Redefined technical diving to under 40m/130ft.
We are all joking but can you imagine this for cave diving?

I like it. And it has a compass and GPS (topside). Maybe get one to ride beside my much larger screen Peregrine. You guys are right, my age group is not the target because I cannot see it.

I imagine there will be other dive apps available. An aviation GPS app would be cool too. Your Garmin G1000 goes TU and your apple Watch to the rescue and fly final approach right down to minimums, cool!

I wonder how they came to choose Oceanic, nothing against them, my previous computer (which died after 15 years), was Aeris which was acquired by Huish.

Hmmm, can it be adapted to bungee straps?

For my wife, this totally makes sense. She already wears and charges an Apple Watch every day, and will for the foreseeable future. I got her a Peregrine this year as a replacement for her old Veo 180Nx, but she’s not too fond of the size or interface. We were thinking of moving her to my Teric and me picking up a Petrel instead. She isn’t likely to dive under 40m, and would love the integration with her iPhone.

For me, I’m somewhat torn. I’ve become very accustomed to the air integration on the Teric, and love the GTR figures, especially when I’m tooling around with my camera rig. I’m also beginning my journey towards deco, tec-rec, and hoping to get onto some of the deeper wrecks off the Keys and east coast of FL.

I watched the linked Oceanic video, and I’m hopeful for the features. Seems like it includes a fully customizable Bhüllman algo, EAN, plus the GPS in/out features that Garmin has had. It would be great if those baseline features were a one-time purchase, and as some other have said, the cloud-related features like an online dive log, were subscription based.

Not very well. If you look at most of the "underwater" headphones even for swimmers its corded and in-ear/bone conduction stuff. Bluetooth is pretty high frequency, of which water "absorbs" really well, want to say bluetooth signal degregadtion happens in a matter of CM but i'd have to go do some math and dust off some books to double check.

The watch size might be an issue for everyday wear, at 49mm its not exactly petite.

I'm 60 and dive almost every day. Probably not the target but I am buying.

I thought the depth rating of a dive watch was 200 meters.
