I think I'll keep wearing a mask in places like airports for a while, required or not.
With the tools I learned from Covid--masking in crowded or poorly ventilated places, prodigious hand-washing, and avoiding touching my face--fingers crossed, I may never catch a cold again and have to miss days of vacation, work, etc.

I agree with the extra precautions during traveling, etc.

A year before Covid, we did a two week dive trip to the Philippines. I was able to dive, but was congested the entire trip. My wife was not able to dive the entire first week we were there due to congestion.

We will do what we can to avoid that again or at least to improve our chances.

I'm at Buddy Dive right now. All island covid restrictions are lifted. But I've advised my group to NOT rinse their masks or regs in the common rinse tanks; use the hose.

I always thought that was a good idea. Sometimes I have used them just because it was too convenient, but I always avoided the mask rinse bucket in a dive boat. A long time ago my mask got contaminated with probably suntan lotion... never again.

The idea of rinsing my regulator in the same big rinse tanks used to rinse wetsuit has never sounded good to me.

I thought this too. Three weeks ago, my work dropped the mask requirements. For two days, I was less careful, only masking around the public, not around just staff. I caught the worst cold that I can remember having. I was sick for almost two weeks, way sicker than my co-workers who had COVID during the same time period. I was tested for COVID multiple times during my illness and am sure that it was a cold or the flu. In either case, I put my mask back on and plan to keep it on for quite some time.

I got sick almost every time I used to travel back and forth from the Philippines. It’s a 16 hour flight from where I am. I agree, I am likely going to wear a mask in the airport and on planes every time I travel, no matter what happens with covid. It’s a small price to pay to have a comfortable trip and a return home without coughing and wheezing for weeks after.
