I just don't log dives
Is it actually worthwhile to to take the blender class or is it just a waste of money?

I found it useful.
Supervised tri-mix, deco and nitrox blends I dove myself. How to use testers, boosters, compressors and banks. How to to bend and assemble banks and panels and make fill whips.
My instructor became a dive buddy and was one of the most proficient and knowledgeable divers I've ever met.

If selling mixed gas then it is certainly prudent to have the certification just in case an incident occurs.
For an individual diver it's really just math *which you really don't need to know now with the mixing apps out there*. There are techniques involved in how to deal with the equipment but it's really all academic and reading Oxyhacker will get you farther than most courses

It depends on why you are taking it and mostly who you take it from. Mine covers blending with many different methods, materials selection, speeds, calculations, technique. I have never had anybody complain about the value.

Ok,

One year ago I swore I would not have a high pressure air system in my house...... I'm picking up my bank bottles for the compressor at the end of the week.

When I ordered the compressor and bottles I said just air..... I'm thinking of getting a O2 bottle for PPB nitrox.

This summer I'm doing my tec classes. So what will I be blending, shrug. Closest shop is 45 minutes in good traffic one way.

Personally I’ve actually taken two blending classes. The first one I took when I took my initial tech training and I found it to be pretty basic. It covered the basics of blending but nothing that I couldn’t have learned from reading the oxyhacker book.

The second one was necessary to avoid a $10 per tank blending fee at my LDS when filling my rebreather bottles. This was only a bit more beneficial as it covered specifics to the fill system I was using but most of the academics I already knew. However at that point I had already been filling my own tanks from a friends compressor and booster for a few years.

I think if you’re planning on installing a fill station it would be helpful if you don’t have any blending or fill station experience. If you do, I think you’d be better off spending the $ towards other things.

After blending tens of thousands of cubic feet of nitrox and trimix on a system that i designed and built, some kind soul gave me the certification. Kind of like putting the cart before the horse. If you can design, build, and operate your own system, you don't need the course.

Friends don't let friends PPB. Just make the whole bank EAN32, it costs you a few extra cents per fill but is well worth it.

How do you recommend blending the 32 if not PPB for the bank
