Hey guys, I will be heading to Bonaire for the first time in a couples weeks. Will staying at Buddy Dive, and will be arriving early Saturday afternoon. Wanted to check if anyone has been to buddy dive lately and know if they will allow me to do the Orientation dive that day instead of Sunday?

Also, am i able to do night dives that are not my resorts house reef? Lets say at Something Special or Salt pier.

There is a Saturday orientation at 4:30pm.
You can dive anywhere you can get to at night. Entries/exits might be tricky.

Yep, Sat orientation and you can jump in anytime though we wait till next day. I am usually drained - physically, mentally and emotionally arrival day. My buddy is usually up for dive, but 'Team' rules the day. And no way is my shakedown dive going to be a night dive.

I usually like to test a site during daylight before a night dive. Salt Pier isn't too bad if you get in at dusk and come out when dark. Something Special same thing. Bari reef pretty easy walk in. Buddy reef makes an excellent night dive - they have oversized cave markers and ropes out to the reef edge that make getting back to the entry steps a cakewalk. There is a boat on the reef a nice 15-20 minute swim north of Buddy, the La Machaca. About 40 feet at the deep end. Makes a nice reference and turn point.

We will be arriving 10/2. Yeah happy!!!

We may all be on the same transfer van going to buddy dive. Too bad there’s not a secret scuba board sign or stickers for sale @The Chairman so we could identify each other.

Suggestion: provide your names to each other by PM. When you arrive in BON, the BD person who meets the flight will check you in by name, so you can find each other.

There is only 1 Delta flight, so if youse guys are on it, we are arriving together. Depending on number of guests there may be more than 1 transfer bus to the resort. It's 'Just Us' as well - my better half and myself. We will be joined in ATL by another couple, met about 12 years ago at Buddy and now we plan our trips together. It's that kind of place. We've met, made and stay in touch with friends around the world. (And she brings lemon hard candy for post dives, so if you are offered candy on a boat, that's Becky) You may see us wearing "Just Us Divers, 2021 Tour" tee shirts. :crafty: My other half is the memorable one - snow white, short cropped hair and he's 5'6". Not gray hair, white. I'm just middle aged, somewhat fluffy, brown-blondish long curly hair.

Yes, the same flight. I’m easy to recognize - a ponytail and wearing my n95 religiously - no chin diaper here. Traveling with a bunch of bald guys and a junior diver.

I spoke with buddy dive a week ago and we can easily get our check out dive on Saturday. Supposedly they are completely full, so I imagine quite a crowd on the bus(s).

LOL, will keep an eye out. Yep - packed the KN95's, I'm sure we will be whippin out the hand sanitizer and wiping the seats/bulkhead/tray tables/back of seat with Lysol wipes. Which is never really a BAD idea.

PM sent George and Matt.

I took a bunch of KN95s on my trip last month and then never used them after leaving Atlanta. I realized that essentially everyone on my plane had been PCR-tested and the vast majority vaccinated, and besides, it's been said that aircraft ventilation and HEPA filtration makes the plane ride probably the safest leg of the overall journey. And once you arrive in Bonaire, there is no shortage of air circulation with buildings often being only partially enclosed. I believe Bonaire is one of the safest dive destinations we have available to us right now. Enjoy your trip!
