so you have a Teric but no regulator? Are you inclined toward a brand? Do you have the transmitter too?

A couple core concepts:

Assuming you are using a local shop for maintenance, what do they sell/service? If you are not bothered for sending them out for service, the list expands.

Are you dedicated to taking proper care of them post dive? If you are a bit lazy, then a sealed diaphragm may be a better choice over a piston regulator or an unsealed diaphragm (you still need to rinse/soak them).

Unless you are really interested in servicing your own gear, don't get hung up on the idea. Folks will go overboard on that concept here. You don't have to, and you aren't a bad person if you don't want to.

Main brand names can usually be serviced in places you travel to if you have problems, but you can also just rent in the case of a problem.

There are some great brands not globally recognized though gaining notoriety (DiveRite, Deep6, HOG) and are a very good value. The "big names" will cost you more, and not necessarily get you more (Apeks, ScubaPro, etc.).

I hesitate to recommend, but can comment on my experiences with my regulators...

One thing to consider is to see if your local shop is selling their training/rental fleet as they turn it over. Sometimes deals can be gotten that way, but sometimes it is not so great. All depends on what it is...

You are correct. I would like to order everything to put together my own regulator setup. Will need to buy a first stage, second stage, SPG, hoses, etc. I don’t want to just buy cheap parts. I’d like input from folks on which components I should buy (based off of others’ experiences).

It’s your life support, do you really want to scrimp on something that's going to keep you alive.

Be aware not all components are necessarily compatible. Just buy a setup from a reputable supplier. You don’t need to buy the top of the range, but the cheap stuff is cheap for a reason.

NO. You should not have said "regulator parts" at all.
You ought to check your OW text book and find out the correct nomenclature for scuba regulator.
A complete set includes: 1st and 2nd stage, octopus(another 2nd stage), 2 hoses of different link for both 2nd stages, inflator hose to inflate your BC. You do not need a high pressure hose and spg because you are using AI.
Some BC comes with a inflator hose while others don't. Some divers find the factory included inflator hose too long or short!
........................plenty to learn.

Here is where I landed:
1. Scubapro MK25 Evo / S260Ti H50
2. Scubapro 2 Gauge Console H552
3. Scubapro R095 Octopus H166
4. 40” Regulator Hose LPR-40 H1297 (compatible with most BCDs I would use when traveling)
5. Shearwater AI Transmitter (I own the Teric)

Remaining questions I’m seeking feedback on.

What is the big difference between the A700 and the S260? I know the S260 is lightweight due to titanium (which is why I chose it). The shop was out of the A700. Just wondering is I should consider the A700 for any specific reason.

Any additional advice?

MK 25 is good, s620 is good
Don’t need the console because the Teric does everything.
A700 is a brass body, 620 is better.
