I dive a din configuration on my 133 steel tanks. My understanding is you need Din first stage for HP 3442 Steel tanks. My Dive Buddy is coming over to HP Steel from aluminum 100s... The Ole Timers here told him just to run a yoke... What is the real deal???? Do you really need din for HP Steel Tanks??

We run hot on fills here sometimes 3700 to 3900
DIN is highly recommended at such pressures.
I would say mandatory, if you use just one first stage...

Most definitively DO NOT use yoke in this case, you will eventually blow the o'ring on the tank valve and you will lose your air in a minute or two with a big splash!! I have seen it happen several times when the pressure in the tank approached or exceeded 3500PSI.

With 200 bar depth , "convertable"/"pro" valves, you can use yoke (with inserts) and 200/300 bar DIN regs.

If the valves are 300 bar depth it is 300 bar DIN only.

I've seen both in 3442 valves.

ETA: good points from others re overfills and not yoke.

Thanks! I am going against OLE Timers advice to my buddy ... Like I pointed out to him they all dive aluminum tanks...

But you will be going with the advice of very OLE Timers from Libya and Italy like me and @Angelo Farina :)

Good luck!
