As senior editor of Undercurrent, I get paid enough to take my wife out for a slap-up meal every two weeks and as many abusive emails as I can stomach. However, it's more remunerative than posting here or on Facebook. At my age (mid-70s) I like to keep the heart beating and some of the stuff I receive certainly does that. Any takers for when I finally retire? (You'll need strong nerves.)

That is certainly apparent just from a reading of this thread.

Seems to me that this dissection should stop now.

Outrageous! That should no more than a meal at McDonald's! :poke:

I kid, I kid.

Good to be concerned about where your money is going (but again, aren't we talking about 40 bucks you will get your value for in the future besides them saying they would give it to you if you specifically asked them?) and that some charities are indeed scams (a quick check of a recollection that somewhere you can look up info on charities only revealed that a new scam seems to be brewing from companies that promise to tell you about charities).

However, I don't see it rising (sinking?) above the level of the usual internet conspiracy theories which is so believable for some people but who shun information logically proven by facts. Here is some info. Money is changing hands. Certain it shows somebody is up to no good but theory defense consists only of repeating the accusation or muddying with more vague accusations and believing any of it is really based on your existing bias.

The info will have to speak for itself.

Anyway, the numbers would seem to show that UC's subscriber base is about 5,100
Color me officially jealous! If I could get 5,000 users to "Go Red", I could possibly be advertiser free.

This pandemic has been incredibly harmful to many, many small businesses. While UC has a boatload of subscribers, they are being prohibited from traveling and diving worldwide, so they don't have the 'raw materials' to produce their content. That hasn't seem to be much of an issue with ScubaBoard, as we've seen our traffic surge, but then we've lost advertisers who are feeling the pinch of divers not diving. If you can afford it, think about supporting any dive oriented company that you can. No, they're not publishing at the moment, but UC would love your support, as would I, as would your favorite dive op over in your favorite dive destination. You may not need us now, but without your generosity and kindness, we might not be there when you really do.
