Peregrine Safety Stop Depth

Yes, there it is typical you may want to do it at 6m instead of 3m. Can be very logical if diving under waves, and of course when doing it on 100%...

I assume this is in the Perdix Rec mode? Are you saying you cans set the safety stop depth, or just its duration?

Not sure about setting the duration for it, but I am pretty sure I can set the stop depth, and turn it off completele

I honestly can't say from where I am sitting right now, don't have access to my Perdix.
One of the first things I did when I got my Perdix was to turn the safety stop feature off, but I'm relatively sure there were some options available regarding the safety stop.

Just read through the Peregrine manual but didn't see anything about setting the depth of the safety stop.

Can you set the depth?

You cannot set the safety stop depth. The countdown (or up depending upon your setting) starts at 20'. Other than that take your safety stop anywhere you like but the timer initiates at 20'. You can set the duration (3, 4, 5, adaptive, or off). This setting works exactly like the Perdix and Petrel in Rec Mode.

Keep in mind that a safety stop feature is just a timer initiated upon ascent at 20'. You don't have to take one if you don't want to. No penalty or lock out. It's not like a mandatory deco stop. A safety stop is a recommendation to enhance safety. The computer is tracking your actual depth and time to track nitrogen load. The countdown timer is just a convenience.

The Peregrine firmware seems to be separate from the Perdix and Teric. It is currently on V78 while Perdix is back on 72 and Teric is on 18. With that said I'd expect they share the same code base with unique elements to each computer added to that base. Just makes sense from a code management perspective.

That might just mean that all the version between 72 and 78 are Peregrine specific changes. You had a similar thing happen on the Teric new computers come with one firmware, while the release version stayed an older version. They made a new firmware to support a hardware change that only affected new production computers.

But we will see in the coming months if it was a fork or not.
