I just checked the divers den facebook, thanks for the tip.

Early. The crane comes up from Owen Sound I believe. It takes the better part of the day to get them all in. It’s not just the DD boats, but at least one from Blue Heron and some private ones as well.

So, the Park is open! Well, it is on Monday. But not for shore diving yet.

I think the most up-to-the-minute information is on Divers' Den FB page, but basically, charters begin Monday, with a limit of 4 divers per boat. This is a Transport Canada regulation to maintain physical distancing.

For now, the usual shore-access points are closed... So the Lighthouse, Tugs etc. I imagine this will change before long.

The dive tag programme is temporarily suspended.

The restricted area boat permit (for private boats) is still required. The plan to obtain these is a bit fuzzy yet. They're emailing me one, so I'll clarify that process.

I fear the cost of a charter with only 4 people....

I don't know their running costs, but here requires many more paying customers to even cover the boat leaving the dock...

My local charter op with two boats (one on Lake Michigan and one on Lake Huron) that can take 16 divers each has reduced max capacity to 8 for the time being. And they’ve always required only 4 divers for these big boats to go out.

I think it's $100 (Canadian, so quit whining :) ) for now.

Of course, I think the border is going to remain closed a good deal longer. There really isn't much appetite to open it at the moment.

Under normal circumstances...DD's boats would normally run with two paying customers...usually the smaller boat...''The Bruce Isles''...with the pandemic...there are still far too many puzzle pieces missing...

The small boat does not comply with social distancing protocol. Need the bigger area to keep apart. Like with the airlines, I predict significant hikes in user fees if capacity is reduced.

I made a virtual webcam of Tobermory for those missing it.

Simply goto and right click on the video and select Loop. Voila, a virtual webcam.
