Most early academic studies used as the end/starting boundaries major world events and/or major changes in technologies, especially during the age 10-20 (most formative) years. For example those who grew up with Radio versus TV vs a computer in the house vs a computer in the pocket; this corresponds to Silent, Boomer, X, and Millennial; Gen Z is being characterized as more hive-like ("Borg") than individuals. that is probably one of the kinder descriptions! Other big boundaries are WWII and Sept 11.

I chose in this survey to stick with actual age, about which there should be no confusion or ambiguity......and also because not everyone agrees strongly with "their generation" and the boundaries between them are fuzzy.

My parents aren’t Boomers. They were born right around the beginning of US involvement in World War II. I believe that’s the Silent Generation.

I'd be here. My parents were born in 1939 and 1943.

Scuba would be here. The mechanical parts were all invented and developed to a high level by the two generations preceding the boomers.

I'd be here. My parents were born in 1939 and 1943.

My folks were born in 1922 and 1923 - I am solidly a boomer. With all this "Shelter in Place" going on, I foresee a corona-boomer generation coming in about nine months.
