Hmmmm, I wonder? Since all my domestic travel has been cancelled this month and Steamboat just announced shutting down....I’m booked April 2nd! Bummer

I was just thinking maybe COZ is the ticket mid-April?

I'm booked for Scuba Club starting March 31st... sure hope things stay open there. Saw on a more local Cozumel Facebook page there may be confirmed case on the island. I don't know whether to believe it as the page tends to be quite sensationalized.

As I recall, COZ did not "shut down" when the H1N1 virus was the "end of the world". I remember travel warnings and such, but I really don't remember any closed borders. (Feel free to let me know if I am full of Barbara Streisand here). From what I have read about Covid-19 and past virus comparisons, as well as the common "seasonal flu", even if you do come down with it you are gonna be OK. (Exceptions for folks with pre-existing autoimmune deficiencies and the elderly, which would be the same for "seasonal flu".)

I am booked for Coz in late April and I am going, God Willing!

Sorry to confute you. This virus is 20 time worst of normal FLU, both as frequency of complications (pneumonia) and as death rate. In Italy we around 5.6% death rate...
And the virus is terribly infective, due to the fact that you have no symptoms for 7-10 days, during which you are spreading it around...
And even if it will not kill YOU, by travelling you increase the risk for others.
Do not be selfish. Think to the elderly, to people who already have other medical issues.
By travelling and not staying home, you can cause the death of other people.

Yes. And the numbers are scaring. A death rate of 3.4%, but definitely higher in "old" countries like my one. Flu is just 0.1%.
But what worries me more is an R0=2.2 (here it is 2.5), whilst normal flu is just 1.3.
It means that, without extraordinary measures limiting people contacts and mobility, the infection will spread quickly to a large part of the population, with an exponential thread (which till now is exactly what's happening).
There is a serious risk to get several millions of deaths.
Comparing the numbers, it is by far the worst of all the epidemics described...

Things will start getting real this week, as the cruise ships that would have arrived, won't.

There was one confirmed case in Cancun, a woman who had traveled to Italy. I haven't seen the report of a case in Cozumel, but frankly I'm surprised that it's taken this long. Cessation of cruise ship arrivals, as bad as it will be for the economy, should greatly reduce potential exposures / infections.

Has anyone flown into Cozumel recently? How have the lines been?

I purchased a travel medical policy that includes medical evacuation coverage from Blue Cross (GeoBlue Voyager). I called them and went over the evacuation scenarios from COZ to DFW and they assured me I will be covered. The written policy and exclusion of coverage also support what they told me. It was relatively cheap too. Zero deductible. $1M medical limit. $500k Medical Evacuations.
