If you drive to your dive site or even dive from a dive boat, what do you do with your personal items such as keys, wallets, etc....??

Wallet/cell goes in the locked glove box. Then take a “dumb” key (all metal no transponder/FOB) goes on a necklace inside my wetsuit/drysuit.

On a dive boat all that goes in a dry bag in some dry place on the boat (galley usually on the dive boats I frequent). Don’t won’t to not bring the wallet so that I have cash to tip the boat crew and buy some post dive beers on the way back to port!

Where will you be diving?

For boat diving I usually bring my stuff in a dry bag

For shore diving I usually just hide the key nearby. Sometimes it is nice when we have a non diver with us who waits near/in the car.

If your vehicle has a trailer hitch, there are several versions of this in the marketplace.

This is what I do. I went to the store and had a dumb key cut so all it can do is open the door.

Purse stays hidden in my locked car. Keys and phone (and enough cash for crew tip if boat diving) with me in a dry box I got in the camping aisle at Walmart. Not meant to be submerged, just to keep stuff dry from splashes. I either quarry dive or dive on the Great Lakes.

My car (2018 Mazda) requires a smart key to start, but there's a dumb key inside that can open the door. I bought a Faraday cage pouch so I could lock the smart key inside and clip the dumb key to my BC. Then I realized I could lock the smart key inside without the pouch if I used the dumb key to lock it instead of hitting the lock button before closing the door. But I still use the pouch out of concern about draining the battery.

ETA: I lock everything else inside someplace not visible. Break-ins are not super common at the shore diving sites I frequent, but I avoid displaying anything scuba-related, just in case. Don't want to make it too obvious how easy it would be.

Good point--ie. NYC vs. Armpit, Saskatchewan.
On my shore dives valuables (wallet--phone) are inside locked car and out of sight.
If I'm home in Nova Scotia the chip ket goes into a ziplock bag and under a rock I keep with me.
In the NY/Connecticut area it goes in the wheel well in one of those magnetic boxes--as there are often people around in these areas, I make sure no one is watching me put it there.
I don't think we need another thread on what we all do with our stupid "smart" car keys (other than lose them and pay $300 for a new one....).
On a boat I too have a dry bag, but I take nothing at all valuable. Wallet, phone stay in the car. Car key is with me, pinned to the inside of the bag. Log book also stays dry and in the car and paper and pencil with me (in a jar) to record dive data.
Don't need wallet on board. I usually tip the DM before the trip starts, but you could also do that upon returning. Why take a wallet on a boat? Why take a phone that could get wet?
Why would anyone need a cell phone on a dive boat...oops, stupid question in 2019 (or 2002)....

Cell phone gets service, can be used to call for help, take photos, mark gps location, look up information, etc. Just keep in waterproof case or pouch. An older model can be easily replaced inexpensively.
