LOL I remember those. They were supposed to be "great" for shore diving and walking to the back of the boat for a giant stride.

Terrible idea.

Get a blue light not a UV light. I) the absorption max for a lot fluorphores underwater is more in the blue and Ii) it is a lot safer for other divers. UV is invisible to be human eye and thus there is no aversion response if some dufus shines it into your face.

All you need is a blue filter for any light. NOTE: to see the result I believe you also need a yellow filter in your mask or on your camera. Worked for me.

What you get with a blue light is lots of blue with some fluorescence buried in it. The purpose of the yellow filter is to block the blue so only the fluorescence remains.

Guess I don't see your point. If you use a blue light, don't you need the yellow filter? And why would you need a dedicated blue light when you can just add a blue filter when you wanted to see the fluroscence? I didn't find it something I would want to spend every night dive looking at. It was more a one time, "so that's what it's like - cool" thing. I found the night marine life much more interesting.

i just love the cheesy rambo movie they made to advertise them

honestly i think the design is clever.....i just dont see a need, i mean, putting fins on in the water isnt exactly arduous. plus ide be paranoid about cracking the locking tab on a rock or something, rendering them useless.

All I'm saying is it doesn't matter how you make the light blue.

That’s the one. Dumb dumber dumbest.
They're still sold by LeisurePro and got mostly good reviews. It's a problem getting fins on on a shore dive with surf especially for someone who's not that flexible or has back issues. They're tempting though never tried them.

LP still sell Spare Airs too. Also get good reviews.
