Tridacna, I’m pretty sure you’re a good guy based on some of your posts I’ve read.
And I’m a pretty accepting guy but, brother, I gotta draw the line somewhere.
If a guy showed up to a dive with a Rolex with diamonds, my first thought would NOT be, “Oh, look at this fellow....I bet he’s got some mad skills.”
My first thought(s) would be:
“This guy is going to invade other people’s prep spots.”
“This guy is going to just stick his foot out and expect somebody to put his fins on him.”
“This guy is going to Ignore his SPG until he’s 50 bar past turn pressure.”
“This guy is going to get lost.”
“This guy is going to need rescuing.”
“This guy is going to snivel about the current.”
“This guy is going to be (take your pick) - an arm swimmer, a coral crusher, a sand kicker...
“This guy is going to get up for a second helping before the last divers are on board.”
“This guy is going to violate the dry zone on board.”
Like I said, I’m sure you’re a nice guy but a Rolex with diamonds would make me think you are “El Dorko Grande” every year for Halloween.

On the other hand, if you showed up to a business meeting where I’m trying to negotiate some forward progress of some type, I’d probably sit up a little straighter in my seat.

My late father would be spinning in his grave if he learned that I took his old diamond encrusted relic underwater. Luckily there is fark-all chance of that happening. It IS good for meetings on Wall Street and that’s about that.
I had it serviced at Rolex in NYC last year. Don’t ever complain about the price of dive gear servicing again. That service was over $400 and no parts were changed.
