I don’t know about M/Y Resolute but I can say avoid M/Y Sakura. That’s the lob I used and I don’t recommend them. I wrote a trip report about my experience

For that same price point, going to Tubbataha, I highly recommend the Discovery Palawan. They also had some of the best food I have ever had on a liveaboard (I’ve been on 9.)

I’m used to max capacity of 16 on a LOB. I was skeptical of the boat initially because it’s a high capacity boat but it’s a huge boat. That made it excellent for the open water crossing and being out at the atoll when things got rough. It doesn’t feel like it’s that many people. There are 4 dive groups and they stagger them very well. We didn’t really run into other groups unless there was a whale shark. I would return to dive Tubs with them.

Thanks, I recall that thread about the Sakura, and also have M/Y Azalea on my no-go list. (Philippines/Tubbataha only, the Maldives vessel of the same/similar name is different company & to a completely different standard).

Thanks. That vessel was on my short-list too but other factors have determined it'll be the Resolute.

Me and my girlfriend was on M/Y Resolute this past end April to beginning of May. We got it lucky as it was USD2100/pax this season, if I remember correctly it is now 2700/pax for next season?

The owner Ernie and Louie joins on the trip this season so if your expectations is of a slightly small but homely boat, I think it will be the perfect fit. They are friendly, approachable and always willing to please.

Rooms are small, but comfortable, air conditioner is very cold.

Diving is from 2 tenders, back-entry. Divemasters are good, but shy. I would prefer them to interact more with us. As far as I know, the divemasters do not work long term, so for next season theymay/may not be the same.

Food is decent. I enjoyed the spicy ramen soup noodle and luncheon meat daily. But for lunch and dinner there are too much fried/grilled stuff to my liking. They make very good fruit juice though, especially the apple juice.

I am not sure about other dive boats, but we do not do night dive on this trip. In addition to that although the brochures would specify 18-19 dives, we only are able to dive 18 times although I believe we could have done another.

I did Sakura in April and found it quite OK. Food's a little repetitive and kinda too sweet. But food in general in Phillipines is not so good. In other aspects it was quite ok.. comfortable enough but certainly not luxury.

Diving was a bit disappointing, we were unlucky. No whale sharks. Only "special" things are one manta and one hammerhead. The divemasters are quite OK also.

I'm sold.

More people more new friends.
