Completed AOW today. Everything went well and my buoyancy is starting to become second nature.

I chose the following 5 dives:

- Peak Performance Buoyancy
- Navigation
- Night
- Deep
- Wreck

I did a 6th dive of an hour to practice my Buoyancy and we discovered I needed to shed 4 pounds.

Now I am at 14# in a Hollis 8mm semi- dry with boots gloves and hood using an HP80.

Going to do Nitrox next, followed by Dry suit.

(Yes, I took the knife with me on my last dive of the day to see if I would notice it on my leg. I forgot it was there until after I emerged from the water.)

Congratulations. Those are the dives my wife and I did for our AOW. How was your deep dive?

Congratulations. Those were good dives to do. I wound up doing the specialties in all of these plus a couple more--back when I was a "card collector".

Congrats on finishing the AOW and great dive selection!

As a PADI instructor I hate that there is only one deep dive on the AOW. I much prefer RAID which has two deep dives and some rescue thrown into the course.

I second the comment about getting the full nitrox course. The course I took did not teach me Dalton's Triangle and only had me analyze cylinders and set my computer. The class I teach is MUCH different than the one I took. Ask questions before picking your instructor to make sure you get the most out of the course.

Keep working at improving and safe diving!

I agree with the comments regarding Nitrox. Get the full course and it will be your first real working exposure to partial pressure. If ou plan to go further than nitrox IE TECH , the PPO2 understanding will be very valuable along with PPN2 when it comes to learning trimix. PPN2 makes dive tables understandable also. When I took nitrox it was the full blown version. I did not need it as my OW covered it extensively. My wife took Nitrox and it was only the computer and check gas version. She will never go tech but if she did she would have no clue because neither OW or NITROX was covered to any degree. Things like equivilant air depth at the end of todays nitrox is a mystery. As such In tech classes the concept of End WHICH IS BASICALLY THE SAME COMPUTATIONS is completely new information.

Congratulations. Those are the dives my wife and I did for our AOW. How was your deep dive?

The deep platform was at 70 feet. I went to 60 on my open water, so not much of a difference. Although we swam to 60 during OW. For this one we descended, without much of a reference, to the platform at 70.

It wasn't a big deal except it was very cold. My computer said 57 degrees, but it felt colder in my Hollis Semi dry. I will definitely look into the full Nitrox course as recommended.

Ah leg knives.

Nearly spent my last breaths and moments on the bottom of a river holding on to human remains because of one very similar to that. Not a good feeling, and you will NEVER catch me anywhere near one again. if nothing else, please turn it to the inside of your calf to reduce the entanglement hazard, and my anxiety...
