Unfortunately, that's one of the easier shore dives around here. It requires a long walk to the shore, then timing the surf. Even if you time it correctly, the cobbles underwater are constantly moving. I always told others to take baby steps when entering/exiting Marineland.

Most of the other sites around here require hiking up and down goat trails. The cliffs are mostly 150-200 feet high and the trails can be slippery in spots. I've fallen on my backside more times than I care to remember. Wetsuit booties make lousy hiking boots.

honest to god I wouldnt make a DONKEY do that climb...... like someone else said, whole lotta nope to go with that ascent

I hit that wall awhile ago due to my knees. No more mountain goat diving for me. That puts about 6 dive sites in RI out of my reach from shore.
How's your energy level? I do one dive on any day I dive. If I get to boat dive that may go up to 3 if I can bring the tanks. Shore diving and the long surface swims they sometime entail around here just wear me out.

So here's one site I don't dive anymore Beavertail, Jamestown RI beautiful diving but for youngesters.

And this one Newton Av Narragansett, RI. Did hundreds of dives in both places during the 1980's

I still can dive here. That's a 200+yard swim to the mouth of the cove. Mrs. AD snorkels in the cove.

Merry is eleven years my senior. I could see that the waves on the rocky shore of Marineland were getting to her, not to mention the 1/4 mile surface swim. I knew it was time to start looking at a boat again. We're still happily together after 13 years and still diving together.

I really enjoyed both of these videos as I have way more shore dives than boat dives. I can relate to the exit. Sometimes it was good...and sometimes not so much. However, there was only one location I dove with this amount rocks. Still not fun if rough.

I think these videos are great to show people who learned at a resort and only do a vacation diving to what it's like to be like a local and dive. A local anywhere.
