I know the title can be read incorrectly, but while using my Teric in watch mode and driving to a game site, all of a sudden the Teric started a dive (automatically switched to dive mode and showed a depth of about 6 feet). I noticed that the atmospheric pressure increased from about 965 to 1013 mbar at that time, but all I was doing was driving on a flat road. I cleared the computer back to watch mode, and it did it again 2 more times (3 in total) in the span of about 10 minutes. Unfortunately I did not save the "logs" it created, but it has not done that again since yesterday.

Has anyone else experienced the Teric automatically starting a dive while in watch mode and not near water? I have a big trip coming up so I'm hopeful it's not a bad pressure sensor and just an anomaly.

BF...

If it was mine...I'd have already given SW a heads up...it would be in a box and on its way back to SW...

The only thing worse than switching from watch to dive while you're driving...is to switch form dive to watch while you're diving...

Never happened to me. You sure you didn't accidentally hit the button while bending your wrist?

I had the same exact thing happen to me. The Teric was sitting on the passenger seat as I drove back from the dive site, and it logged two dives all by itself. Plus it gave me a bunch of odd warnings like low PPO2 and missed deco stops. I contacted SW and they jumped on it right away. I sent them the old unit and they sent me a new one. Definitely contact SW. They have awesome customer service.

I think you should log the "dives!"

OK, not really. But I've ordered a Perdix for myself and am glad to hear SW service is as great as people say! (They also have a service facility within an easy drive of my house which means I might not have to way for mail....)

My last dive with my Teric was April 22.

Back home in KC yesterday May 09 I was driving around and it logged a dive while driving to 17ft for 50 minutes. I obviously didn't hear the beeps.

Today I took it off the charger and it was only at 85% and had been on it close to 20 hours.

Today May 10 while standing at a party with a bunch of dive buddies I got a 17' Dive for 1 minute, immediately started showing the cannot connect with transmitter error message and one about deco. Got it turned back to watch mode.

Little bit later it logged a dive to 15' for 16 minutes (guess I didn't hear the beeps for the music) but when I looked at it I had the transmitter and deco messages again.

Little bit later it logged a dive to 17' for 1 minute, same messages.

Little bit later it logged a dive to 6' for 1 minute, same messages.

Little bit later it logged a dive to 17' for 1 minute, same messages.

Got so frustrating I completely shut it off.

Was set to OC TEC in Fresh water mode.

I will call Shearwater, I am guessing, Monday. I presume they are not open during the weekend.

Sounds like a theme to me, for it to log dives on it's own.

All you guys are having similar issues.

I was just eyeing one of these. Guess I'll look elsewhere or hold off.

I have had my since September (8 months) and this is the first real issue other than the cradles are pretty fragile.

FWIW, I dove in Indonesia with the same Teric that had the logged dives while driving and had no problems whatsoever. I did retrace my drive a few days later (before my trip) to see if there was some sort of magnetic anomaly in that particular area, but the Teric didn't react to the drive that time. In any case, the Teric performed great during my dive trip and I definitely love the computer. When I arrived home, I had a brand new replacement Teric waiting for me that I've yet to dive with, but again, Shearwater has been fantastic with this, and they do create amazing products for the dive community.

I asked them to let me know what they find out with my "old" Teric, so we shall see.
