Will be doing the Similan Islands on a live aboard. Looking for a good place to stay in the area between Phuket Airport and Khao Lak for 3-4 days beforehand. Suggestions? Medium to medium high priced. Thanks!

You really need to tell us more about what you're looking for. Do you want to stay in that area because your boat is leaving from Tap Lamu or do you just want to stay in Khao Lak? I've spent nights in both Khao Lak and Naiyang before and after liveaboard trips. I found both places to be somewhat boring, but that's just me. If you just want to sit on the beach, either would be OK. There are many hotels with a huge range of prices in the area from the vicinity of the airport up to Khao Lak.
