What price did the bidding begin ? And what increments did it advance to the terminal selling price ?

My money's on a second and third account being used (or a friend's account) to make it appear the item was worth more than it really was. It could also be that seller saw it was going to sell for $30.99 and he didn't want to let it go for that much.

Or we could take it at face value, and assume that two bidders somehow got into a bidding war 6 seconds before the auction ended and that they both wanted to pay $500 more than what they should have needed to win the item.

I Sorta,.... Kinda, ......Maybe..... Agree with both of you …

It is a very significant piece of diving history - A patch from one of the oldest and certainly largest dive clubs ever established in the US.

It was created as a income producing scheme by one of Americas first Frogman. It was distributed by the first recreational dive manufacturing company in the US Sea Net Manufacturing owned by Pops Romano located in Terminal Island , Long Beach, California

Pops passed away in 1954 --64 years ago -- so the patch is at least 64 or more years old and possibly the last one remaining after the passage of all these years

It is a product of collectomania

Bidnapper. Perfectly legit. Bidding takes place in last 5 seconds. I do it all the time.

My bad I bid $29.99 I don,t think it was a scam.I will list a mint one in a week or so starting at a high price and we will see what happens then.

At least start it at $1000 Mike to see if there are any more fools out there in eBait land. LOL

Maybe not a scam, but it looked like someone knew when to push it up to a higher bid at the right time.
