Petral

I have bought three Perdixes, but I keep running out of them in my store. So I have been replacing store stock with my personal ones and still have not dived with one of my own

Really? You wouldn't take a free Teric? (not that I'm offering...)
Nope, I prefer the console-style of the Perdix.
The Teric has numbers slightly smaller, and more close to each others, which are not friend with my eyes.

Apeks 1st and 2nd stages(DS4, DST and FSR; TX40, 50 and ATX40).
Uwatec Aladin Pro or Nitrox dive computer.

Well fitting mask…

Perdix AI… expensive, but worth it.

Halcyon DSMB… Two sizes 3.3’ and 6’. Expensive, but I paid 50% off retail buying them off the SB classifieds. I really like the 3.3’, small, and easy to carry. This DSMB paired up with a DGX Small/ Medium Stainless Steel spool… I couldn’t be happier with it.

Deep 6 Eddy Fins… LOVE the buoyancy, and spring straps.

Henderson Aqua Lock Boots… nothing special, but they’ve held up well and are comfortable.

Various Rash Guards… no sun screen needed on my torso, and it’s all the exposure protection I need in the Caribbean.

MK25/A700/R395 Octo… I feel they’re quality. I really like ‘em.

DGX trilobite… nothing special, cheap, and I don’t regret it. Also, it comes one every dive I make, so it made the list.

I've cobbled together a dive costume that permits unmentionable freedoms

Despite being last years designs, the shirt is still available yay

and quick dry in order to step off the boat and straight into the pub to get a head start on your new besties

You know I've been constrained by 1/2 an inch of neoprene in cooler climes for decades
Forget valve manipulation, or moving much of anything anywhere, plenty of positives though

But this current liberating trend deemed by others as "Naked Diving" is the bomb for as long as it can

other than that, the mask snorkel and flippers my dad bought me back then

Do you have a picture you can post? That sounds like something my girlfriend would really like :) She's tried something but I don't know if it would be called a "beanie."

Tell her to try the "Bang Wrangler "

But I like my beanie too, though when it's a bit cooler, I wear my neoprene smiley face SCAP underneath it.

forgot on critical piece of gear. My Farallon snorkel, first one purchased in 1974.

I was reading some other threads about gear people really loved, for example, What a great bag!!

And then I saw another thread about gear purchases people regretted: Any equipment buying regrets ?

So I then got the idea to start a thread of gear purchases people DON’T regret one bit, like stuff people thought were REALLY GREAT!

I’m going to start with my list - I LOVE these items:
  • Shearwater Perdix - needs no introduction
  • Mares Cruise Deluxe - so practical, so durable, so inexpensive, so easily purchasable (i.e. via Amazon)
  • Beanie (any brand) - I literally cannot dive without one as this keeps my hair out of my face, and makes mask don/doff so much easier
  • Henderson Thermaxx 5mm - damn it’s stretchy, easy to don and doff, moulds to every lump and bump on imperfect bodies
  • Henderson Thermaxx 5/3mm hooded vest - same as above; I don’t even know how they can get a hooded vest to feel NOT constricting - boggles my mind
I would buy these items again if I ever lost them or they died due to old age.

What about you? What stuff do you LOVE?

I've been diving for a long time so this list changes as I go.

From my current kit the things I really like are

- my mask (Mares X-vision). Fits perfectly.
- my regulators (apeks). Prior to a couple of years ago I had ever only owned Aqualung regulators (and one Sherwood that I ended up selling because I couldn't get it serviced professionally where I live). I've been very happy with those regs.
- My current drysuit. I had a little "adventure" with trying a new brand of drysuit last year and eventually, after having 2 lemons and a lot of problems the manufacturer reimbursed me, which I thought was very sporting of them. Since I started diving in 1984 all of my drysuits had been BARE. I replaced the faulty suit with another BARE and I'm happy as can be with it.
- my Perdix. Enough said
- My lights. I have two that I use all of the time. One is a Greenforce and one is a Metalsub (Greenforce is Belgian and Metalsub is Dutch so they may not be available everywhere). Both are lights that I have are outstanding.
