Regs in carry on. 2 sets of gear in a hard sided regular suitcase and weighs 46 pounds. If gear is not completely dry, we may have to move lights to carry on for the trip back home.

Works for us.

Cool. But also 4kg vs 3 lbs. We sometimes pack both our gear in one bag - so weight is an issue.
Agreed that weight can be an issue.

The MEC bag has a hard back and partial sides. In between a hard side and soft side. Its rigid with good protection, especially if you place your fins appropriately to protect the soft side.

I have been looking for something to replace my old Stahlsac wheeled duffel. Wheeled duffels are ideal--mine has a hardshell bottom that cradles dive gear and a soft top--but the durable ones can be heavy. The Stahlsac has been super-durable, taken on many trips all over the world, but it weighs nearly 10 lbs. In prior threads on this topic, some people have suggested (non-wheeled) duffels with backpack straps to reduce weight. I own a Patagonia Black Hole 90L in this category, but I can't fit ALL my dive gear in it, and besides, I wouldn't want to walk very far with a 50 lb. backpack.

For local diving (house to car to dive boat and back), LL Bean Large wheeled duffle. For dive travel (airplane), normal luggage, no dive bag, logo'd duffle, etc. Briggs & Riley carry-on +backpack, and normal suitcase for checked.

Ah, you're from Montreal! I got ours at Bentley - 3 lbs, $80, comes in two colours, collapses flat for easy storage when not in use. Wheeled Duffel Bag.

Just went to Bentley's today and bought this bag !

Light and strong: exactly what I need, for the moment at least.

Thanks a lot ! :)

Wheeled duffle for airline checked gear from the mountain.
MEC Fast-Track 3 Rolling Duffle
It is hardbacked so it gives protection. We use the 90 litre.

I will keep that one in mind when I need an upgrade. Thanks !
