If my 7 mil pants are dry, I leave my socks on when donning. Found it more convenient than plastic bags.

I've tried on loads of different brands and sizes of suits over the past few days, and I can now see why the DS thinks I should be a large. The size charts that these manufacturers put out are all over the map!

I fit anywhere between a medium (which in my opinion is just not possible) right up to a 2 XL?!?

I brought with me my Under Armour hockey shirt and pants, as was able to slide in and out of the suits (the ones that fit anyway) with relative ease.

The large fits in almost all places but my throat where I feel as if my Adam's apple is getting turned into Adam's apple pie, and there is no way that I can dive like that.

The extra large may be just a tad bit too big in the small of my back, but a rash guard I'm sure will take care of that.

As a bonus I've just discovered LavaCore front zipped jump suits, so this should make donning and doffing the wetsuit a heck of a lot easier.

Thanks again to everybody for helping the new guy out, I greatly appreciate it.

I would be interested in hearing how that goes. I had a front-zip jumpsuit and needed help getting out of it. I have no problem getting out of rear-zip jumpsuits. I don't have a problem with the ones with a separate jacket (farmer john, etc) that are front-zip.

I find a Lycra skin helps under a thicker wet suit better than all the other options,I’ve even taken mine to the store when I try suits on. I think yours sounds too tight. Muscular builds need to go up a size or two.
Back zips are generally easier than front zips but you may need help if you have a bad shoulder. The hyperstretch is also a good idea.
I once rented a thick suit for Peugeot sound that was too tight and I ended up scrapping my dives because I couldn’t breathe and my hands were numb. Next size up and I was fine.

In cold areas you can often do our dry suit course in conjunction with the OW since you will be diving dry locally most times anyway.
I dove wet for a year in Puuget Sound when I first started. Looking back,I would have found a way to afford a dry suit a course but I was an intern and money was scarce.
