This was one of the reasons I did not feel comfortable with Dive Assure. Their conditions are not written in a clear manner. I also do not understand what "abnormal state" means. That will be a point of argument for sure.

With respect to the second half, "...due to which You were disqualified or not entitled to engage in diving," I suppose this could mean if your license has been taken away from you? But that doesn't make sense, since diving certifications are not licenses that can be taken away. Or maybe they mean disqualified by your doctor due to medical reasons? But they don't say that...so again, a point for argument.

Anyway, if you read through that document, you will see it is not written well, with lots of errors and ambiguities.

That document looks to be for the US market, but nowhere in it does it say so. I am just assuming based on certain things in the document and that it is using US dollars. I know there is also one for the European market.

I found even better but I have no idea if this is the old conditions:

Nah in anycase I never understand clearly those documents like they forgot some ponctuations or enjoy to write many things so we get tired and stop reading.

Exclusions:
- Making a recreational technical dive (mixed gasses, gas switch, rebreather, wreck, cave and ice diving to a depth of more than 50 meters without proper certification and training and/or not following strictly the guidelines set for that particular dive.

About what about Solo diving ?
DAN do accept and cover them as soon as we have the certification.

I wonder if the best moves would not be:
- check out google map to know where are located hospital / ems service / hyperbaric chamber any other usefull stuff
- call those hyperbaric chamber to know if they do recognize DAN without us to spend money / maybe ask hyperbaric treatment cost
- call DAN to know which hyperbaric chamber they recommand
- same time ask DAN if they have specific recommandations about health / emergency protocol or local laws
- call your local primary / secondary insurance that you will travel & dive and be sure in case of emergency they won't go slow ...
- fix your teeth before to travel or a complete health check

WoW I don't want to be crazy but I don't like surprise specially if you solo travel for few days in a country you never gone before.
As always I prefer to be in order. Not forget DAN insurance / Have active health cover / Travel insurance ? Another diving insurance ?

If you don't mind me asking, what was the cost of treatment? If you'd rather not say, no worries.

Funny thing....I have no idea. When I say DAN covered it all, they did it without me being involved at all. It was several days in hospital, half of that in ICU, plus the in-house doctors, and outside heart specialist.

That's the kind of feedback I like to hear and it instills in me confidence that when $hit hits the fan, DAN will take care of it all for me.

@Dogbowl and @DandyDon , does DiveAssure (or for that matter, DAN) require you to also make a claim on your primary insurance (assuming you have primary insurance)?
From Dive Assure's terms...
3. You hereby agree to provide details of any known coverage in effect at the time of loss and that GBG has the right to review and potentially subrogate with any undeclared coverage whether known or unknown to You.
5. The Insurer may at their own expense take proceedings in the name of You to recover compensation or secure an indemnity from any third party in respect of any loss, damage or expense covered by this Insurance and any amounts recovered or secured shall belong to the Insurer.

I trust that Dive Assure offers good coverage, but claiming Primary is a gimmick.

DAN also subrogates with other coverage.

The document I have also has your listed #5 but it does not have #3. My document is a Description of Coverage, not the actual Policy, as far as I can gather.

@DandyDon , does your document say somewhere in the Preface:

Full details of coverage are contained in the Policy. If there are any conflicts between the contents of this document and the Policy, the Policy will govern in all cases.

I am very confused to say the least.

Don’t leave home without it!
Five minutes before we boarded the Febrina in PNG, Capt. Raabe insisted the one couple that didn’t have DAN must purchase it online right on the dock.
Guess who took a 50k helicopter flight 3 days into the cruise?
I would wager that the helicopter would not have made the run if the captain couldn’t have assured that the pmt would be made. That diver was bad shape with multiple problems that appeared to be life threatening. (I thought the helicopter price was extortion, but apparently the oil companies have them all booked up there and that was the going price for that situation)
I’m off to the Galapagos— with triple insurance( which might be a bit of a hassle to sort out who pays first and how much); but I won’t leave home without it.

I copied my info from page 6 here: https://www.diveassure.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/DiveSafe-DOC-English.pdf

I don't think so, but those terms are common on many sites. Put the first sentence inside quotation marks on google search and see.

You do need to read your policy. Contact the company to get a copy.
