I've had a forced break from diving and occupied it with bushwalking, birdwatching and art projects. Diving is better ....

I've done lots of other things besides just diving, but it was always my main passion. I also enjoy shooting and archery but the difference is that I don't sit up all night every night making sure my guns and bows and arrows are as close to perfect as possible. I just do that when I get back from shooting and put the stuff away.

Nice... Mrs Stoo caught me looking at a porn site (BMW Motorrad USA) the other day, and nixed any potential return to my biker days... :-(

I use to shoot a lot. Still do some but not nearly as much. Suppose I would go back to that some.

My wife would tell you that I was going to start doing more projects around the house....she would be wrong.

I already am mostly a seasonal diver (daughter is in school and sports so travel is limited at that time), and 99% of the folks I know are either travel divers or barely tolerant of conditions here. Diving for 25+ years, and warm water travel only 4 times. I hunt (spring, fall, winter), ski, do backwoods canoe camping, have an ongoing 15-year remodel project on the house, and generally tinker with stuff when not diving.

If I had to give it up, I'd be busy for a bit of time ridding myself of all I have acquired in diving equipment, and I might get into working on gear as a business. I also used to be a passionate fly-fisherman. Might return to that....

I took an 8-year hiatus from diving a few years back, so I do know what a "plan b" could entail. I will say that it is better to have diving in it.

It sure was good to get back doing it.

I garden, grow orchids, do wood working and turning, and cook. I'd probably do more cooking, wood working, and especially wood turning. I'd also do more shooting, archery, snorkeling, and fishing.

I hope I never have to stop diving though. I've cut down to a 50cf locally (for the weight) and have a 30cf and 27cf that I also use locally. The water here is low vis, cold and not much to see but mud, some rocks, and a few fish. I dive here to practice (finning backwards currently) and clean the lake bottom. I live to dive places like Bonaire.

I might actually get to processing and removing the primer crimps on the 8,000 brass cases I have in my basement......

I have my Dillon XL650 setup for that. I am lazy..

I am retired after 30+ years in the RCAF, so I have plenty of time for hobbies. Unfortunately, being on a pension does not leave as much money as I would like for these hobbies. Right now, I have three hobbies that I try to balance and two of those are intertwined. I dive, I am an avid photographer (not only underwater, but everything from landscapes, to astro-photography, car racing (although I haven't been to a race in several years) and airshows. I also shoot "competitively". I shoot IDPA - the International Defensive Pistol Association.

If I couldn't dive, I would probably focus my time, energy and money into the other two. I have always wanted to travel to Iceland and photograph the "Fire & Ice", and to go to Wales for a week or so photographing the "Mach Loop" or Death Valley not only for the Landscapes and Night sky, but also a quick side trip to the "Jedi Transition".

Just for giggles, here are a few pics that I have shot over the years:
