We're both off topic, but I too question why she wants to start scuba. Has she in fact been underwater on scuba yet in the course? I've always held the opinion that someone with a fear of water should absolutely overcome this well prior to scuba. Swimming in deep water, snorkeling down to 10' and up, etc. Just my opinion.
To answer your questions, she has been working thru this for a couple of years. And yes I have had her on scuba and if she works into it at her own pace she does well. For a newbie she has excellent bouyancy control. She still has her "gremlins" to work out but ,Holy Crap, she's determined and wants to move forward!!

When I bought my first wetsuit, I was told that the colors represented different grades of elasticity. My first suit was blue in 1980. Red was least flexible. I am not sure how true that was. My 80s jacket BC was yellow (my daughter wore it for Halloween a few years ago).

My last wetsuit had red shoulders. They faded pretty badly to a dark grey/pink color. Wonder Woman had a pretty awesome wetsuit...

Mobby's is not shy about making wetsuits and drysuits to satisfy the OPs wife's needs for a splash of color, for the proper fee . She can even get LEOPARD PRINT lining in her wetsuit, for mercy's sake (page 14 of the international catalogue)! Come to think of it, I want leopard print lining in my wetsuit.

Good for her - you go girl (and I'm a guy).

My bad. I assumed she just looked at scuba out of the blue and with a big fear of water. Since she's been on scuba and has good buoyancy it sounds like success is a good possibility. Good luck as you continue.

Well,,,a lot of replies!!! Some relevant, and some, not so much. I had no intention starting a debate about wether or not she should try scuba. The intent was basically a quest for info. But seeing as how points have been brought up, well, me personally, I still believe in freedom of choice!! That she wants to try and work thru this, she has my absolute full support!! That she is doing this for the opportunity to go diving with me, well, I feel very honored and humbled that she is doing it. Knowing her the way I do, come Hell or High water,, she will succeed,, and be better than alot of divers out there.
I will keep you all posted on the progress!!!

I needed the warm feeling that your post just gave me. Thanks and best of luck. Diving with your sweetie is the best.
