Two of diving friends went late last year for a LOB and they are a couple. Another guy friend did a LOB recently too. They all loved it.

But from the group photo I saw, there was only one lady on-board, including the crew, and based on her body language, she was with her partner.

I would like to go as well, but I think solo female diver might present slightly different challenges...

@FinnMom:
Which Boat/s did you / do you like?
We have always been on charters that booked the entire boat, not boats that take individual customers. I have no experience at all with the major charter names like Blue O2, Agressor, etc.

Thanks.

Never had a problem diving in Marsa Alam, Egypt. I would hesitate to go to the Sinai area though. Enjoy.

My wife and her best friend went there a few years ago to dive on a liveaboard out of Hurgharda. They had no problems and said they felt safe all the time. Worst thing was I was left at home!

I have friends who were at the Dahab Blue Hole just yesterday, more going soon. I think I just saw on FB that the jet servicehas resumed from parts of Europe to Sharm as well. The Egyptian economy is is in great pain and nonetheless they have invested additional millions in security measures. IMO DIVER magazine was being kind of a dink to gripe (FB post) about the cost of tourist visa possibly being raised to 60 dollars; $60 is still a resonable price and so many other costs in a trip there are laughably cheap.

I have been on (and greatly enjoyed) trips with
Masters Red Sea
and
M/Y Aphrodite

Both FB pages (esp. the 1st one, but #2 was just in drydock) regularly post pictures/videos showing where they have been and what they have seen today. I image there are innumerable other charter boats with web pages that do the same.

Sorry that both are FB links but it is a fact of the times that people just don't post photos, videos and updates like "there is a whale shark hanging out at...." elsewhere nearly as much.

I dive the red sea from Hughada down to Marsa Alam at least twice a year (mostly 3 times a year) since 2011 right after the revolution. I never felt insecure or had any issues at all regarding security. My recommandations for liveaboards goes to emperor diving or the blue fleet but daily boats are fine as well.

The Whalers dive club located in So Cal has a trip to the Red Sea departing the 16th of October. We have a few spots to fill. No need to be in California, we will meet you on arrival at the airport.
Due to security concerns our trip is based in Israel with daily diving excursions into Egypt and Jordan, returning the same night.
This is a 2 weeks trip, one week of diving, one week of touring and an optional visit to Petra. There is an option to do only one part of the trip.
Since the Club is a non profit corporation the pricing is basic wholesale. You can get more info on Whalers website:

I was diving from Hurghada on livaboard that went up to the strait of Tiran (close to Dahab). Never had any problems or felt unsafe. Shout out to the golden Dolphin fleet, I was on their smallest and oldest boat (golden dolphin 1) and it was plenty comfortable and clean with awesome food, knowledgeable guides, and friendly and professional staff. They were also very competitive in terms of pricing with free nitrox and transfer from the airport and back
