Got a gym membership for the pool. I've done 350 yards/320 meters the past two days. My arse hurts. :D I seem to be he entertainment for those in the hot tub as I'm kitted out with mask, snorkel, and fins, plus using a kick board. I have to explain multiple times I'm a diver.

Sounds like a "teachable moment" - recruit more divers!

So I dive wet in NoCal and told myself I would brave the cold during Xmas or New Years break to get some winter diving, Yeah, no, not with the cold snap we've been experiencing, It would be about 45-50 degrees F during the surface interval (yeah, I know thats balmy to some of you). Im hoping the air temps rise a bit for MLK weekend. Otherwise I could see myself waiting until March to dive again.

Luckily, just got some warm water diving in Cancun & Playa del Carmen early Dec. - my first warm water diving in years.

I usually try to shoot USPSA and 3 gun matches in the winter where it is cooler.

Dove Dec 24. Started snowing while we were gearing up (Vancouver Island, Canada). All gone when we got out. The water was a chillier 46F.

Dove yesterday, same place. Sunny all during the dive. Water was 48F.

Still, the heated vest under the drysuit (with dry gloves and 7mm warm hood) is nice.

The plan is to dive again Jan 1 (Sunday) at a different place that will be more of a slow photo dive.

But then that is why I moved out here from Alberta some time ago.

They certainly get interested when they ask where I'll be diving and I mention Great Lakes shipwrecks!

I've also found that the pool is a great way to decompress after work (my job is pretty stressful). I'll go beat my fins against the water instead of my head against the wall. :)

I live in Abu Dhabi so we can dive all year if you have a 5mm exposure suit. My 5mm needs to be replaced so during my down time, I swim with mask, snorkel and fins in my pool. I swim about 4-6 km each week.

I also read scubaboard and other scuba related material. This year I traveled to Koh Tao to dive for 18 days.

I live in Connecticut and dive all year. In the winter I just use my dry suit and head out to the Massachusetts and Rhode Island coasts for salt water or stay in Connecticut for fresh water or ice diving. Today I'm getting ready to go for our traditional New Year's dive at Fort Wetherill in Jamestown RI this coming Sunday. Happy New Year 2017!!!

Winter is the best time to dive :)
Nothing like winter viz :) And as a bonus we can go night diving already at 4 o'clock in the afternoon.

Where are you that it gets dark that early? I'm in the deep south of the frozen north, so it doesn't get dark til 5.
Out diving in Ohio tomorrow.
