What type of laptop do you recommend for traveling and liveaboards?
It will be used for photoshop lightroom, email, Facebook, Skype, instagram and blogging.
Thanks
Séan

I'd recommend a Lenovo Windows based tablet/laptop.

Mac

Mac's are sweet... But there not durable, I'd be afraid I'd bust it on my trips.

Is loveno a tough computer.

I'm looking for a computer that can take the bumps and grinds for hard travel, light weight, about 15"

My Macbook Air has survived for almost 5 years now and been on several dive trips, including liveaboard trips. YMMV

The best decision of my life was switching to a Macbook after years of working with inferior products, since I made the switch 4 years ago I haven't had a single problem with my Macbook and I can't say that about any of the others.
Macbook Pro is used by more professional video editors than any other type of computer for editing on the go in all kinds of environments, if you don't believe me check with Howard Hall a world renown IMAX Cinematographer.

A Macbook Pro isn't any more or less durable than any other laptop on the market outside of specifically designed ruggedized laptops like a Panasonic Toughbook. I've used Toughbooks for years, but traveling with them sucks, so when I'm taking a trip where I plan on taking pictures, I bring my Macbook Pro.

My mac goes on liveaboards on the other side of the world at least 5-6 times a year!! It has also been all over Africa, China, Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, Europe and....it still looks as good as the day I bought it. I would have never described my Mac as not durable. My son is even using my old mac and have you ever seen how teenage boys treat their computers?

Buy the fastest and best you can afford!

I would suggest a laptop smaller than 15 inches. The added screen size increases the weight by a lot. I am an ardent Windows user. I have a Lenovo. I love my Lenovo laptop, but would suggest a good MacBook for travel and the things you want to do with it. It is extremely easy to find a cable or plug for a Mac around the world.

+1 on the smaller (13 in or so) screen size. I travel with a 15" (Macbook pro), and sometimes I wish it was a little lighter. I would really want it to be lighter if I was going to be on a boat!

No matter what the model, get a waterproof keyboard cover, and a waterproof bag or hard case. The keyboard cover will help a lot with keeping moisture out of the unit.
