Hi Geoff. Well good news is you found the leak source :). I have not heard of anyone having success patching seals. If you do have success please post.

A year ago I did patch a pinhole in my silicone neckseal. I cut a patch from a torn wristseal and glued it over the hole with a rubber glue from supermarket. It still works.
 
By "rubber glue", do you mean contact cement?

They sell different glues in a supermarket over here in my place. We don't call them contact cement. The one on the picture is for plastic, but that one I used was for rubber. It must be flexible after drying.

Thanks, they have several others. Can you describe the process you used? Did you coat both the seal and the patch, wait for the both to set up, and then stick them together? Or, did you just apply the glue and stick them together?
