I have been to fiji 3 times all up the north mostly around the rainbow reef staying different resorts.A couple of things i would recommend besides the rainbow reef area is the hammerhead dive we did with Korosun dive and Namena. When we did the hammerheads we saw 25 to 30 of them and they often see more. This was in the Savusavu area where you can also dive Namena which is the best dive I have ever had.
If you go to Rainbow reef the dolphin divers resort is very cheap and very close to the action.

I will echo Namena is a not to be missed place.

Did you stay at Dolphins Divers Resort?

No but I have researched it..looks great. My wife isnt keen on tents but Im a hiker/camper anyways...its location is pretty awesome for diving.

I got to Namena from Savu Savu..Cousteau resort boat.

We spent some time at Sau Bay which is very close to Dolphin Divers. It was really nice and not overly expensive and is not big so not many divers on the boat.

Did the dive at Beqa. The reef was OK. Nothing to write home about. The shark dive was pretty cool. There are 2 operators: Beqa and Aqua-Trek. I only went with Beqa and I had chatted up with this couple that had gone with both Beqa and Aqua-Trek and they prefer AT much better than Beqa.

I stayed at the Pearl Pacific. Cool resort but the rooms are not meant for friends traveling together. Great for couples but can be awkward at times if you are not.

Namena was good, Gau was pretty awesome. Nigali Pass cannot be missed. Kadavu had it all. Sharks, tuna, manta, napoleon wrasse, and not to mention the color on the soft corals.

I did not get a change to go to Taveuni and Yasawa. I will do that for the next trip.
