I don't really have any points available because Delta sent me an e-mail in September for 30,000 points for round trip to Europe over Thanksgiving.

Two weeks in France was the result!

my divebuddy is banking them for when she retires in a few years.
Good luck on getting to use them reasonably.

I think I will make out okay. I view these as "free" miles.

She has banked about 15 years worth of points. As long as i get one or two flights I will be happy.

i am still annoyed that a "free" flight costs me real dollars since none of the extra airport fee surcharges etc are covered.

Yep, that's is my complaint as well. It's almost a full time job to manage hotel rewards, FFM/segments/MQM/MQD's and credit card points. I hate the bump up to use points during certain travel dates. And the 'hub' concept kills me - had to fly Phila - Pittsburgh this week through Detroit. Used to be almost hourly flights between the two, was more like taking a bus, you wait 20 minutes, one comes along. But I don't miss the 1980's when people could still smoke on flights.

I just booked a July 4th weekend trip to Mexico with JetBlue. 2 people round trip, 40k points. I'm happy with that! Going to see some whale sharks and a couple dives. :)
