Brown building out on the water closest to Coral Vista is Eagle Ray's. Further behind towards the next slight point is Foster's.

Don't confuse him, offering first hand experience through Google Earth is hard.

What is this Doc? Retribution because I posted against your sacred Cow Cocoview?

First of all I said might be. Second of all it's not Google Earth because I have been there.

So what If I got one building wrong while trying to help someone. All your post does is insult and tear me down for no apparent reason that i can see.

retracted...

Except that you're a shallow, petty and sad old man. I pity you...

I can embrace that if you find a way to limit your own trip reports, dive experience and advice to things, places, and dive operations to that which you have actually experienced. This OP is already signed-on and going to spend a week at a place to which you have never been, yet you are ready to offer an intimate opinion.

But, we've been down this "experience thru Internet research" road before, right here on this forum.

If you can afford it, go over to Utila for a few days. It has a totally different feel from Roatan and great diving. There's a ferry, but you can also go over via a short plane ride (around $100). We stayed at Utopia and got in some amazing dives.

Great dive op, good food, gorgeous oceanfront property. Visibility was amazing and the dive masters were excellent.

Thank you everyone for the advice! We ended up booking 3 nights at Splash Inn then will move to Coco View for 7 days. Best of both worlds!

We thought about doing this! Would have to do the ferry though since flying back would take away a day of diving for us. Unfortunately it didn't work out for this time and will have to be another trip!

They stay under 3,000 feet for the UTL-RTB jump. Go fly.

Lotsa dives:
In October things are very slow. In fact, CCV shuts down for the month. The smaller operators I mentioned earlier go out with very few divers. Typically around 4 per boat, but sometimes in the afternoon, only with one. So, the DM can go where he likes to go, which are often the nicest dives. On many dives from that trip we would have Shawn Jackson, a local pro photographer along, and also another local guy shooting Lion Fish.
Diving from West End is easy, because most sites are very close, and the currents and visibility are pretty predictable. Intervals are spent on shore and the whole atmosphere is pretty easy going. Three dives a day is not a hardship.
At Chillies/Native Sons the room was $25. per day, dives were $30. a pop (including tank, bcd, regulator) and I would spend about $10 - 15 per day on food. So my daily costs were about $130.
Looking forward to going back in the fall.
