Did y'all look at that link I posted earlier for the Titanium knife on the DGX website?

Partially serrated blade
Slightly rounded tip (just very slightly rounded)
Line cutter hook on the top
The whole knife is only about 1/4" thick as the handle has no scales - could easily wrap with paracord if desired
All titanium
Sheath that you can hang on your belt or easily mod for bungee mounting anywhere

And it's only $25!! (not to sound like a shill or anything - no affiliation with DGX other than being a super happy customer)

Titanium is not the best blade material, it doesn't hold its edge as well and can be difficult to sharpen. The only real "benefit" to titanium is that it wit rust but a properly cared for steel knife won't either.

If my dive knives were EveryDive tools, I would get a steel knife. Mine are emergency tools so none of them have actually been used yet and, if all goes well, they never will be. So, I'm not too worried about maintaining the edge. And for $25, I'll just buy another one...

Not too hot about the skeletonized handle...the spydie feels so good in the hand, and those wicked serrations will rip through almost anything....:D

I may have misunderstood so apologize if I have but if it's an emergency tool then even more reason to ensure it's razor sharp, an emergency is not the best time to discover your cutting tool has dulled.

I'll have to check. I'm a bit of a knife guy. I have never noticed any of mine going dull when unused. Does exposure to salt water (followed, of course, by a good fresh water rinse) cause knives to go dull even when you don't use it?

I've owned several titanium knives over the years and all appear to have dulled without use. I no longer use titanium cutting tools.

Interesting. How long do they typically take to dull to the point you feel they need to be sharpened or replaced?

Have you had many different alloys of titanium, or several instances of the same alloy?

I have no idea as to specific alloys just that they were "titanium". Within a year IIRC. I don't remeber all brand names but one of them was a Wenoka Squeeze.

I believe that, just as there are many different knife materials that are all "stainless steel" and some are great and some are crap, there are different alloys of Ti, too.
