At 12:30 this afternoon, I made my 1000th dive. I went with a group of 9 old & new buddies (yes,... we has sub- buddy teams within group). I was diving on my Prism2 rebreather. We made a 57 min. dive & the group stayed together until the last 10 min of the dive. I kept the dive plan shallow & simple for the sake of the newer divers in the group. Lots of pictures taken (I don't have any, yet) & everyone had a great time. I came out of the water to a huge cake commemorating the event & a small party with all the divers present at the quarry.
I look back at the past 8 yrs since my Open Water certification & see the many doors that have opened up for me. From an unsure novice, to finding good mentors to help me along & to better understand things, to finding a fantastic Instructor for my Dive Control Specialist, Instructor & technical training. Now I am entering the the world of rebreathers. I've come a long way & I see so many paths ahead for the future.
Thank you to everyone here who have given me words of encouragement & wisdom, to those who have given me timely warnings & even those who have given me a good ride for the money in friendly bantering! Rock on, dudes & dudettes!
Congratulations. You're way ahead of me. At age 60, 1,000 highly unlikely as I will finally hit 500 in March after almost 10 years. If I'm doing 65-70 a year you must average around 150. Then there are those with like 10,000 dives--what's up with that?
