Its a faster gas means that it reaches saturation in your body faster than nitrogen. BUT, its also less soluble. So unless the conditions cause you to rocket ascent from 130 to the surface, you'll be a-ok with helium esp if its a nice multi level thing. There's a lot of old wives tales about it, and most aren't true or are exaggerations.

Imo, this is the perfect dive for some helium since 130 is already at the outer bound of rec (vs tech) diving. In any case, be sure you have enough gas (minimum gas) to make an air share ascent from depth.

I might be more willing to accept the non air > 100' argument if it didn't also go hand in hand with a no air < 100' argument. Basically no air in diving is an argument I can't accept so I have to reject such blanket policies. I think many others are in the same boat.

Jadairiii, are you implying that we don't understand narcosis? ....

Pretty clear from my post I was not “implying” anything, just stating a fact. But better yet your post proves my point, rather than state facts and show proof that “deep air” is “safe” you have to resort to ridiculous examples and equating the WKPP to the KKK. All class.

Your own actions prove your ignorance in this matter. But just in case, correct you don't understand narcosis.

The facts about deep air have been stated on this board over and over and over again.

I'm far less uppity about that. I prefer nitrox, I like the extended dive times and such, but for a 30ft Cayman reef dive? Sure, air. NDL is pretty much ∞ anyway.

You can always tell when the jig is up when statements like "fanatical cultists whom would suck the farts out of George or JJ's ass" start creeping into the deep air proponents' posts.

Classic.

Well when you start claiming that anything beyond 100' is Deep air, almost anyone with half a brain will become a "deep air proponent".

Time to start thinking for yourself AJ.
