Hello BC Divers,

I am am heading your way in March and seeking dive buddies and info on day boats and group shore dives. I'm arriving/departing through Victoria March 20-31. I am reserved on Ogden Point Dive Centre's Sat and Sun day boats March 22/23. Besides that I have the following week and weekend open for diving anywhere between Victoria and Campbell River.

Anybody want to go diving with me? During the last 18 months, I have gained a lot of cold water experience with about 150 dives in Monterey, Calif. OK--it's not quite as cold as your water :)

I am also looking for other day boat charters and organized group dives anywhere between Victoria and Campbell River--especially for weekdays.

And if any of you ever want info or a buddy for diving Monterey or the Calif Channel Islands let me know.

Hi Brad:
There are a number of weekday evening drop in dives around Victoria. Each Wednesday a group meets at Ogden Point at 5:30 to dive the breakwater (I'm part of this group). Also Rockfish Divers in Brentwood Bay offer a Thursday night drop in. Day time dive buddies are more difficult to come by but you could post on the Ogden Pt Facebook site. Depending on your budget you could also hire a guide from a dive shop to do some of the local shore dives. Mid week boat charters are mostly non-existent unless you bring a group and charter the whole boat. Since you know your dtaes you could check with various operators to see if they have anything going that you could hop in on. One exception might by 49th Parallel Charters out of Thetis - it is possible they might arrange for a solo charter. You could certainly get out on your second weekend with Seadragon out of Nanaimo.

I'm in Fanny Bay just south of Courtenay, there are a couple of shore dives in the area, so if you pass through and want to go diving during the week let me know. For Nanaimo I recommend Nanaimo Dive Outfitters, they do free DM led shoredives on Sundays and they arrange day charters out to the wrecks (and other places) as long as you can get a minimum of 4 divers together. Up in our area, go with Pacific Pro Dive in Courtenay, they have their own boats and go out all the time. For Campbell River contact Beaver Aquatics, they do a lot of dives around Quadra and there is also a very nice shore dive just 10 minutes away from the shop at the Spit.

Dang, I'm heading back to Calgary when your headed here.

Not to hijack, but anyone free 18-19 on the island?
