The Warhammer Maneuver - YouTube

It's my own fault... I had to look. Now I will spend the rest of my life trying to get that image out of my head.

... and I got something new to give me the willies underwater.

Sea cucumbers suddenly don't seem so gross anymore.

I thought of something else that gave me the willies. On one of our Red Sea trips, we dove the Salem Express, a ferry that went down in 1991 with appalling loss of life. It was an extremely eerie dive. You could see the suitcases in the holds, some of them open . . . the sand had belongings and children's toys. Although conditions were perfect for the dive and it's an impressive wreck, I felt as though I could hear the ghosts whispering. I don't actually regret diving it, but I would sit it out if a boat went there again. I have talked to other folks who have dived that wreck and feel the same way.

I try to avoid the willies when diving ... it's uncomfortable in a drysuit, and embarrassing in a wetsuit ...

Alex Bay near the Islander - a cat skeleton, a rope, and a cinder block......
Also at the A-Bay Islander, a large plastic bag weighted down. Never opened it and can't say as I would want to!!!

Deep DARK wall dives where if you get away from the wall all there is Darkness with no reference point even with a light gives me willies BIG time. Goes with not being fond of night dives in the low vis around here.

At the surface in rough, confused seas where I can't tell when or from where the waves will crash over my head.

European divers wearin just speedos on the boat....and if the speedo wasn't bad enough, the pubic hair hanging out the side of them was surely enough to give me the Hebee jebees.

Sea snakes and snakes in general get me every time. I first encountered them in the Philippines doing some snorkeling and I instantly left the water and wouldn't return. I went back to the Philippines and got some certs and encountered them under the water and they get me every time. Very majestic and docile...but weird. They make for some great videos though.
