14-16lbs in a 3mm? Or bare? For you both or each? Of course we all have different body types but that seems high for the exposure or lack of that you use.

I've used rocks in my pocket belt a couple of times when unusual circumstances arose in very remote areas. Can't do that with a plain belt. I do use a plain belt at home, though.

For me around 14-16 lbs with 3mm. I'm about 210lbs. My wife 12lbs tops with 3mm though we haven't really pinpointed our ideal weighting needs yet. I think we could both probably reduce our weight requirements but regardless we still need belts to even get to that point.

I make my own pocket belts. I sell individual pockets and can put them on any belt. Just set up a rubber one with custom slides I cut on the waterjet to fit the rubber belts. I have about 100 of the slides to fit the thicker rubber belts if anyone wants to buy any.

I'd recommend rent a belt and weights at your destination. A lot less hassle and frankly, it's a belt.

You need to recheck your weight. My ballast is 14-lbs when I'm in a 7mm one piece and I weigh in at 205-210 lbs...fat.

You using BPW? My weights with traditional BC. I can probably shave a a little more lead off.

Come to think of it, I'd only be loading about 10lbs of lead on the belt. Anymore few lbs of extra weight needed I'd load on the BC.
