Hi everyone,

I'm going to buy two wings for my "girls", and I'm hesitating which one to choose.

I can buy an OMS 32lbs in the OMS CLOSEOUTS website for near the same price than a HOG 32lbs in another shop.

I already have an OMS 32lbs and I'm quite happy with it, the only point is that it cames with an inflator a bit different to what I'm used to and it always takes a little to get used to it in the water.

I'm a bit worried about what can I get from OMS, its a close out section and I don't know if they can send me something that maybe I don't like.

I tried to contact them but they don't answer my mails.

The god point of OMS is that if I buy them, I will end up with 3 identical wings and this could be a god thing for maintenance.

In the other hand, I found a good sale for 2 HOG 32lbs wings.
I don't know them and don't know if this wings are better or worse than the OMS ones.

At regular price, OMS wing are 50-80$ more expensive than HOG wings.... I don't know if this is for a reason or just a matter of brands.

Thanks a lot for your help.

If any one knows about another option, better at the same price...or less:D please tell me fast, I need to take a decision in the next week.

Best regards from Zaragoza

I have several bits of OMS gear in my inventory, and more of HOG gear.

Everyone (including me) raves about the customer service from HOG/Edge.

Everyone (including me) says OMS customer service is non-existent.

What was your question again?

HOG is a great company but their specialization seems to be regulators. I would also prefer their mask and fins over more expensive competition. When it comes to BP/Wing however I would look towards DSS and Oxycheq because BP wing set up seems to be their bread and butter.

If you buy from a LDS they can do more to overcome poor customer service than any one person can, they buy more. I've have a OMS B/P wing that I bought new in the wrappings from a private sale. In three years I've had no reason to contact customer service, but I'm very happy with the gear. My LDS is an OMS dealer and if it needs something in the future that's where I'll go, and I'll expect to pay for parts and service. I dive a lot in less than ideal conditions the OMS gear seems to hold up well.

If you are buying online, I would recommend HOG over OMS for the following reasons:

1. Customer service.

2. Value (great price for the quality of the product).

3. Serviceability.

I bought two of the early model HOG 32 wings in 2008, and sadly the bladder welds failed a couple months ago, and the online dealer who I bought them from had gone out of business. I called EDGE/HOG, was able to speak directly to the owner, and had two new bladders mailed to me free of charge.

These wings were almost 5 years old but were still covered by warranty, and the warranty was honored by EDGE/HOG without any drama.

And the new bladders are "updated" and tougher than the original models, so I expect these to last a VERY long time.

If the same scenario occurred with your "closeout" OMS wings, would you be able to call OMS and get new bladders? I can't answer that, but the uniform opinion on this board is that OMS' customer service is pretty poor.

As far as "servicing" either OMS or HOG wings.... there really is not much to service. The inflators, inflator hose, and dump valves can be replaced with "generic" parts. You can get an entire new inflator assembly for <$20. And wings really require very little in the way of "servicing" if you take a little time to maintain them yourself (clean and store properly).

Have fun with whatever you decide, but I just bought my 3rd HOG 32 wing (for our son).

Best wishes.

Thanks to all of you for spending your time helping me.

I finally bought two Hog wings, I'll post a comparative as soon as I get them and return home.

I hope that the quality of them is as good as the OMS that I have at home.

Will tell by the beginning of October.

Un saludo desde Zaragoza

Hi guys i am too looking at I am too looking at OMS wings but as always there are many options and would appreciate some assistance.
I have been to my usual diving shop and i was shown the Apex WTX6R
buoyancy cell and respective back plates. It does look good but i know no one who has one. I was also shown kit from an Italian company called Divesystem. Has anyone heard of the latter or used any of their kit? Locally there is no HOG agent as far as i know.
