i sugest you go dive both locations because you obviously have no clue what you are talking about or you are just trying to promote the bali shop you obviously work at.

I HAVE dived both areas, as a friend has a dive shop on Gili T and we had planned to do 4 days intensive diving there. However, after just one dive, where we saw just about nothing to write home about, even compared to our local dive site of Blue Lagoon in Padang Bai, we sacked the diving and just chilled instead.

There are many people who will say that Gili T diving is great, and maybe there are good dive sites, but from my experience, I don't see how it even compares to Bali diving. I would say that Gili's is great for learning to dive, but for experienced divers, I think they would be disappointed. Just my opinion. :fishslap:

Amed, Bali has the best diving in Bali by far!

That's quite a big statement to make and I personally disagree with this. Amed is nice, but so is Tulamben, Padang Bai or Nusa Penida. I wouldn't say that one is "the best" especially "by far", since that would show lack of knowledge.
All these places offer great diving. They are also living environments where cycles occur. Some may display more diversity or more of a given species at a given time. This obviously changes over time.
I wouldn't take seriously anyone who claims this or that place deserves a superlative. And the great thing is that since all these places are quite close together, you can try them all for yourself over a relatively short period of time.
As for the ops question, booking now will be no problem. If you want to avoid the crowds during this busy week end, avoid Tulamben and Manta Point. The rest should be fine!

divewench, if you look at my previous comment you will see its directed at zivva, hence the reason i started with 'zivva,'. i agree with you that diving in gili stinks.

Yes, I was aware that your statement was aimed at Zivva. But thanks for pointing that out, lol

divewench, please cut back on the nitrogen. you're not making sense.

Why trying to be sarcastic ?

Your comment on NP diving (coral coverage + strong current & cold water year round) just makes me think that you might need a bit more experience of the area before making any definitive statement ...

Regarding the Bali shop I try to promote, please have a look at my profile & posts history : I have never discussed about the off-Bali shop I am working for & never will :)

Amed, Bali has the best diving in Bali by far and it is also a nice quiet little town with no traffic or noise, nice restaurants, friendly people, black sand beach front rooms, and babi guling.

Amed best diving in Bali ??? Love diving there, but what makes it better to other areas in Bali in your opinion ? What's your agenda, except promoting a dive shop ?

Mmh... On my part, I'm not sure you've read enough of Zivva's posts. You would hardly accuse him of promoting his diveshop, something he never did on any of the boards I've read his posts. (That said, he won't deny he's lobbying hard for ground coffee).

Re- dive quality question, as a regular Bali customer and seasoned UW photographer, my preference goes to Nusa Penida and Tulamben, Padang Bai/Candi Dasa would be another option, but I would clearly rate both Amed and Pemuteran/Menjangan as second choices.

no i havent researched all of zivva's posts, im not that scubabored! i will glady promote adventure divers bali in amed because they are awesome and i dont work for them so its not suspicious anyway. i will also promote the diving in amed cus i think its waaaaay better than the rest of bali due to the easily accessable pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefish and other macro just steps off the beach, variety in that some sites offer walls with tons of coral and fish and others muck and macro, no crowds of divers zipping overhead or icey currents. i remember having my camera with me in lembongan and taking ZERO photos as opposed to the hundred or so i took in Amed. But if you guys prefer np or the crowded tulamben wrek then great, leave amed unspoilt for me to enjoy again in the future.

Good for you!
And poor me, I'll take Tulamben and Penida, hoping SportDiver and ScubaDiving will carry on purchasing my photos from Bali as they did the 2 past years ;)
