Does anyone know what the water temperature would be at Mt. Storm at this time of year?

My logs say mid 80s to high 70s. But, I think its still closed to the general public without a boat.

Hi there. I was just thinking of asking you. We still dive there. We use sit-on top kayaks and row out to the 15' stop and anchor up. We tow our gear out and put it on in the water. When we go to shore the DNR had no problem with us tying up our kayaks at the scuba entrance. So we enter and exit where we did when we had free access to shore diving. We could have probably blown up an inflatable and floated out to the dive sight. All the DNR said is that we needed to dive from "a boat." It didn't matter what kind. When does the temperature get to the upper 80's and 90's?

So, where is the scuba access on the lake? I recently bought a RIB, and would love to take it out to the lake and practice my entry/exits for diving. Also, is there a link/website that discussed the diving at Mt Storm, such as the best places to dive around the lake? Lastly, any good places to put up a tent for camping around the lake?

The dive platforms are about 30 feet off the shore. If you pull into the parking lot you will see a sign posted on the tree Scuba access. Of course you must go to the boat dock and launch off. The only diving is by boat. Once in the water at the shoreline (where we used to walk in) facing towards the power plant there is a rope which leads to the first platform. The rope is located in 5-6 feet of water, (you may have to look for it). In the link attached below is a picture of the where the first platform is located. I am not associated with this dive group they just had a great picture. Also the furthest rock on the right hand side of the picture is where you will find the rope. Look a little to your left. If you do not see it go down another 3 feet towards the plant and you will see the rope as the water gets deeper. When you find the rope you can follow it to the first anchor. The the ropes split off into the other 2 platforms. If you find the rope the rest is a piece of cake. I have also attached a map of where things are located. If you have any question let me know. Also when do you plan on going diving at Storm? A great place to stay is at Abrams Creek Campground about 10 minutes away. I also included a link for you.
