WAKATOBI is pricey, but well worth the money.

My husband and I have dove Wakatobi and Lembeh Resort in the months of Aug and September the last few years. Conditions were very good both locations. I would not hesitate to go there.
We are underwater photographers and found the conditions to be good for that also. Lembeh has the most weird looking creatures I have ever seen. We just went this past December 2012 and
saw the flamboyant cuttlefish hatching. What an experience! There were also blue-ring octopus on almost every dive. There were actually multiple octopus on most of the dives. No mimic octopus this visit. When we went last year Sept 2011 only one boat saw one blue-ring on one dive for the whole week but we did see mimics. So it really is just the roll of the dice to see the blue-ring when you go. If they are there, the divemasters will find them. I would say my favorite world spots have been the resorts at Wakatobi (it is pricey) and Lembeh Resort. Helen and Gizmo at Lembeh were fantastic hosts.

Found this table a while back doing an internet search, can't remember the source. View attachment 147083
Reading Raja Ampat and Banda Sea "good from March to November", I would state the whole info is somehow unreliable.
The problem with Internet is that a lot of information can be misleading when you don't know the source.

Thank you for the great information. I'm heading to Manado for 7 days diving plus a few extra days sightseeing, then over to Lembeh for 4 days diving. Then on to Komodo and beyond!

If you are considering Lembeh, you might want to consider Ambon. Said to be better critter and muck diving than Lembeh but of course that is always one diver's opinion. Take a look at Maluku Resort.

NOT in july august. FYI, liquiddivingadventure, these are the worst months of monsoon season in Ambon, the floods can be very severe. Last august people even died in Ambon due to the heavy floods.

I would have to agree with all the people recommending Lembeh. I've been there 3 times (twice July, once January) and can't wait to go back. I am addicted to the muck. I wouldn't bother with Bunaken. There are better places in Indonesia to go. Komodo has incredible diversity and it's a good time of year to go so I'd go back if I were you. I've just been to Raja Ampat and it is amazing! I'm not too sure what the conditions are like there in July/August but even if all you can dive is the Dampier Strait it is well worth it. I went to Tulameben on my last trip and was pleasantly surprised at how good the diving was - it's worth a few days. If you stay close by you can be in the water before all the day trippers.

Luko - I am considering Ambon for something different besides Lembeh! How is the end of April?
